RRC Eastern Railway Scouts & Guides Quota Recruitment 2026

Railway Recruitment Cell, Eastern Railway (RRC/ER), Kolkata has released a recruitment notification for filling vacancies under the Scouts & Guides Quota for the year 2026-27. Online applications are invited from eligible candidates who meet the mandatory Scouts & Guides criteria. Candidates who do not have Scouts & Guides qualification are not required to apply.

This recruitment drive is for a total of 15 vacancies, with applications available online from 2026-08-07 (10:00 hrs) to 2026-09-06 (18:00 hrs). Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for Level-2 (Group ‘C’) must meet one of the following educational requirements: (1) have passed the 12th (+2 stage) or equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in aggregate from a government-recognized Education Board/Council/Institution. The 50% condition is relaxed for SC, ST, ESM, and PwBD candidates, and for candidates with a higher qualification from a UGC-recognized university; or (2) have passed 10th from a government-recognized Board along with a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) / ITI approved by NCVT. A Diploma in Engineering is not considered an alternative higher qualification.

For Level-1 (Erstwhile Group ‘D’), candidates must have passed 10th, or ITI, or an equivalent qualification, or hold a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.

Age Limit

The age of candidates will be reckoned as on 2027-01-01. For Level-2 (Group ‘C’), the age limit is 18 to 30 years for UR, with relaxation up to 3 years in the upper age limit for OBC and relaxation up to 5 years in the upper age limit for SC/ST. For Level-1 (Erstwhile Group ‘D’), the age limit is 18 to 33 years for UR, and age relaxation is as per the extent of age relaxation criteria for OBC and SC/ST categories.

Additional age relaxation is available for certain categories, including serving Railway employees, Ex-servicemen, PwBD candidates, widows/divorced/judicially separated women, Quasi-Administrative office staff, and Course Completed Act Apprentices (CCAA), as detailed in the official notification.

Scouting/Guiding Qualification (Mandatory for Both Levels): Candidates must be a President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger or hold a Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) in any section. They must also have been an active member of a Scout Organization for the last 5 years, supported by a Certificate of Activeness. Further, candidates should have attended two events at National level/All India Railways’ level and two events at State level.

How to Apply

1. Visit the official RRC/ER website: www.rrcer.org.
2. Go to the Notice Board and click the link for “Online/E-Application for Scouts & Guides Quota”.
3. Select “New Registration” and complete the registration form.
4. Enter personal details such as Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, Community, e-mail address, and Mobile Number. After submission, a registration number and password will be sent to the registered e-mail/mobile number.
5. Log in using the registration number and password, and complete the registration process step-by-step.
6. Upload scanned copies of the required documents, including photograph, signature, Left Thumb Impression (LTI), and self-attested certificates supporting date of birth, educational/technical qualifications, caste category (if applicable), income certificate, and Scouts & Guides achievements.
7. Fill all mandatory fields carefully and pay the applicable examination fee online.
8. Submit the completed application form. Note the Unique Application Number generated for future reference.
9. Take two printouts of the submitted application form and keep them safely.

Selection Process

The recruitment will be conducted in two main stages, followed by a medical examination for candidates recommended by the Recruitment Committee. In Stage-I (Written Test), the test carries 60 marks and includes 40 objective-type questions (40 marks) and 1 essay-type question (20 marks) based on the Scouts & Guides Organization, its activities, and General Knowledge. The duration of the written test is 60 minutes, and candidates must choose either Hindi or English as the medium. The minimum qualifying percentage for Stage-I is 40%. Candidates who qualify Stage-I will be called for Stage-II in the ratio of 1:3 of the notified vacancies as per merit.

In Stage-II (Marks on Certificates), the total marks are 40. Marks are awarded for participation/service in National events/National Jamboree (including All India Railway events), participation/service in State events/rallies, specialized Scouts/Guides course at National/State/All India Railways level, and participation in district rallies. After clearing both stages and receiving recommendation from the Recruitment Committee, candidates will be sent for a medical examination at a Railway Hospital in the ratio of 1:1 of notified vacancies.
