Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) or an equivalent degree from a recognized University/College/Institution in India or abroad. If the degree is from a foreign university, candidates must have the required conversion certificates recognized by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI). In addition, candidates must hold a valid Registration Certificate under the Odisha Veterinary Practitioners Act, 1970 (Section 21).
Age Limit
Candidates must be between 21 years and 47 years of age as on the recruitment eligibility criteria mentioned in the notification. The age condition corresponds to a birth date not earlier than 1979-01-02 and not later than 2005-01-01. For persons with disabilities belonging to SEBC/SC/ST categories with 40% or more permanent disability, age relaxation of 10 years is applicable over and above the upper age limit of 47 years.
Application Fee
The application fee is payable while submitting the online application form. Candidates belonging to categories other than SC, ST, and PwD are required to pay the examination fee, while SC/ST/PwD candidates are exempted.

Salary & Pay Scale
Selected candidates who qualify in the OPSC VAS Recruitment examination and are appointed will be paid a monthly salary as per the notified pay level, along with usual Dearness Allowance and other allowances as sanctioned by the Government of Odisha.

Selection Process
Selection for Veterinary Assistant Surgeon/Additional VAS posts will be made based on a Written Examination only. The written test includes two papers: Paper-I (Veterinary Science) and Paper-II (Animal Science). The total marks for the written examination are 800.
As per the exam pattern, the written examination is objective type (MCQ). Each paper carries 400 marks and has a duration of 2.5 hours per paper. Paper-I (Veterinary Science) consists of 200 questions, and Paper-II (Animal Science) also consists of 200 questions, covering objective, general awareness, and subject-specific areas as indicated in the notification.
