DRDO SSPL JRF & RA Walk-in Interview Recruitment 2026

Solid State Physics Laboratory (SSPL), a laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) under the Ministry of Defence, has announced a walk-in-interview recruitment for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Research Associate (RA) positions. Eligible candidates are invited to appear directly for the interview at SSPL, Delhi as per the discipline-wise schedule. This recruitment is intended for temporary fellowship engagement and does not provide any right to absorption or regular appointment in DRDO.

SSPL is filling a total of 23 fellowship positions across JRF and RA categories (16 JRF and 7 RA). The walk-in-interviews are scheduled in September 2026 with reporting at 0930 hours at the venue mentioned in the notification. There is no separate online/offline application process; candidates must bring a duly filled application form (Appendix ‘A’) along with all relevant documents. If the number of candidates is high, a screening test may be conducted on the same date, followed by the interview.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Junior Research Fellow (JRF): Candidates must have one of the following educational qualifications: (1) a Post Graduate degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in Physics/Electronics with First Division and NET qualification; or (2) a Graduate degree (B.E./B.Tech in Engineering Physics/Electronics) with 1st Division and NET/GATE qualification; or (3) a Post Graduate degree (M.E./M.Tech) with 1st Division at both Graduate and Post Graduate level.

Research Associate (RA): Candidates must have either (1) a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Physics/Electronics; or (2) an M.E./M.Tech with 3 years of research experience in Semiconductor Materials, Devices Fabrication and Characterization, along with at least one research paper published in a Science Citation Index (SCI) journal.

Age Limit

JRF: Upper age limit is 28 years.

RA: Upper age limit is 35 years.

Age relaxation: Relaxation in the upper age limit for SC/ST/OBC candidates is permissible as per Government rules.

How to Apply

1. Download the application form: Download and take a printout of the application form (Appendix ‘A’) from the detailed advertisement.

6. Attend screening test/interview (if applicable): If the number of candidates is more, a screening test may be conducted on the same date, followed by the interview.

Selection Process

Selection is through a walk-in-interview at SSPL. The notification also states that if the number of candidates is high, a screening test may be conducted on the same date, and the interview would follow thereafter. The fellowship is temporary and is subject to project funds availability up to the Probable Date of Completion (PDC) of the project.
