Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have the essential educational qualifications as applicable on or before the last date of application (2026-09-29). The essential qualifications include: (1) Intermediate examination with Biology from the Board of Secondary Education, Uttar Pradesh, or an equivalent government-recognized 10+2 examination; (2) a 2-year Diploma in Livestock Extension from a veterinary university or a veterinary college established by law; and (3) working knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script.
Preferential qualifications are also mentioned for candidates who may have relevant service or certificates. These include minimum 2 years of service in the Territorial Army, or a ‘B’ Certificate from the National Cadet Corps (NCC), or continuous 15 years of active service as a Veterinary Dresser Grade-I/II in the Remount Veterinary Corps, along with a High School pass in Science or Agriculture (or an equivalent recognized examination).
Age Limit
As per the Uttar Pradesh Animal Husbandry Department, Livestock Extension and Poultry Development Service Rules, 2002 (as amended), candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have exceeded 40 years as on 2026-07-01 (the age is counted as on 1st July of the calendar year in which vacancies are advertised). Age relaxation is admissible for SC, ST, and other government-notified categories as per applicable norms.

- Verify the photograph and signature fields. These are auto-populated from PET-2025 and cannot be modified during this application.
- Fill in the remaining details, including preferential qualification (if applicable) and your correspondence address.
- Read the declaration, enter the verification code, and click “Save and Submit.”
- Pay the application fee online using Credit Card, Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or SBI e-Challan (as applicable in the portal).
- After successful fee payment/reconciliation, the application is auto-submitted. Download and print the application form for future reference.
Important: Only candidates who appeared in PET-2025 and were shortlisted based on their normalized PET-2025 score can apply for the Main Examination. Candidates with a zero, negative, or below-cutoff normalized/absolute score in PET-2025 will not be shortlisted.

Selected candidates will be placed in Level-5 of the UP pay matrix, with a minimum pay of 29200 and a maximum pay of 92300, along with allowances as admissible under Uttar Pradesh Government rules.
Selection Process
Selection for the Livestock Extension Officer post will be based on a written Main Examination as per the Uttar Pradesh Animal Husbandry Department, Livestock Extension and Poultry Development Service Rules, 2002. Shortlisting for the Main Examination will be done using the normalized PET-2025 score. Candidates will be shortlisted up to 15 times the number of advertised posts category-wise, including candidates scoring at the cut-off.
The written Main Examination will include an objective-type, multiple-choice question paper with 100 questions of 1 mark each, to be completed in 2 hours (120 minutes). There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks (one-fourth of a mark) for each incorrect answer.
The exam pattern is divided into three parts: Part-1 (subject-related knowledge) with 65 questions; Part-2 (Computer and Information Technology concepts and contemporary technology developments) with 15 questions; and Part-3 (General Knowledge related to Uttar Pradesh) with 20 questions. The total marks are 100.
Part-1 topics include Introduction to Animal Husbandry; Animal Anatomy and Physiology; Animal Nutrition; Animal Breeding and Artificial Insemination; Dairy Management; Poultry Farming; Animal Health and Disease Management; Livestock Extension Education; rearing of Cattle, Buffalo, Sheep, Goat, and Pig; Dairy and Animal Product Technology; Livestock Economics and Entrepreneurship; Field Training and Practical Work; and a Practical Section.
Part-2 covers computer and IT fundamentals, hardware/software, input-output devices, internet protocol/IP address, IT gadgets, e-mail, MS-Word and MS-Excel basics, operating systems, social networking, e-governance, digital financial tools, cyber security, and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, and IoT.
Part-3 covers Uttar Pradesh-focused content including history, culture, art, architecture, festivals, folk dance, literature, regional languages, heritage, social customs, tourism, geography, environment, natural resources, climate, soil, forests, wildlife, mines and minerals, economy, agriculture, industry, business, employment, polity, administration, and current affairs.
