Rajasthan Contract Safai Karmachari Recruitment 2026

The Department of Local Self Government (Swayatt Shasan Vibhag), Government of Rajasthan, Jaipur, has released an online recruitment notification for Contract Safai Karmachari (Sanitation Worker) posts to support sanitation services under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Eligible candidates who meet the Rajasthan domicile and experience requirements can apply online for the notified posts across 183 urban local bodies (ULBs) of the state.

This recruitment is conducted under Advertisement No. 01/2026 for direct recruitment of Contract Safai Karmachari. The process follows the Rajasthan Contractual Hiring to Civil Posts Rules, 2022 (as amended). The online application window is from 15 August 2026 to 28 September 2026 (up to 11:59 PM), and selection will be made through a category-wise lottery using an online software developed by the Department of Information Technology & Communication, Government of Rajasthan.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

No specific educational qualification is prescribed for the Contract Safai Karmachari post.

Age Limit

As on 1 January 2027, applicants must have completed 21 years of age and must not have exceeded 40 years of age, as per the Rajasthan Contractual Hiring to Civil Posts Rules, 2022. Age is calculated from 1 January following the last date of application, according to the rules.

Important note on relaxation: Age relaxation is not cumulative. Candidates will receive the benefit of only one applicable provision, whichever offers the maximum relaxation.

Other eligibility requirements (as stated in the notification) include Rajasthan domicile and sanitation work experience. Candidates must be permanent residents (domicile) of Rajasthan. They must have at least 1 year of experience in sanitation work in any urban local body of the state. The experience may be continuous for 1 year or accumulated from separate periods totaling 1 year. The experience certificate must be issued by the concerned urban local body in the prescribed format and duly signed by the competent authority (Chief Municipal Officer/Ayukt or an authorized officer, as applicable). The certificate must be issued on or after 1 August 2026 and before the last date of application to be considered valid. A candidate can apply for only one urban local body out of the 183 notified; applying to more than one ULB will lead to rejection of all such applications.

Application Fee

One Time Registration (OTR) is required on the SSO portal as per the Personnel Department circular dated 19.04.2023. The OTR fee must be paid through the designated e-Mitra kiosk/Jan Suvidha Kendra. The fee is category-wise as follows.

Candidates who have already paid the one-time registration fee earlier are not required to pay it again.

How to Apply

1. Visit the Department’s online portal https://lsg.urban.rajasthan.gov.in/ or the SSO portal https://sso.rajasthan.gov.in and log in.
2. On the portal, select “Recruitment Portal” under Citizen Apps (G2C) and click on “Apply Now.”
3. If you have not completed it already, complete One Time Registration (OTR) by entering your category (Unreserved/Reserved), disability status, and home state details, and pay the applicable OTR fee.
4. After completing OTR, log in through SSO and fill the online application form. Details entered during OTR (such as name, father’s name, date of birth, gender, and Aadhaar/PAN/Voter ID details) cannot be modified at the application stage.
5. Capture a live photograph and enter a visible mark as part of the application. Ensure all entries are correct, as incomplete or incorrect entries may lead to rejection.
6. Enter your Jan Aadhaar number, as it is mandatory for the application.
7. Review all entries carefully and submit the application. Note down your Application ID; if you do not receive an Application ID, it indicates the application was not submitted.
8. Take a printout of the submitted application form for future reference.

Salary & Pay Scale

Contract Safai Karmachari appointed under urban local bodies will be paid a monthly honorarium of 7410 INR as per the Labour Department notification dated 13 December 2024.

Selection Process

Selection for Contract Safai Karmachari posts in each urban local body will be conducted through a category-wise lottery process. The lottery will be run using an online software developed by the Department of Information Technology & Communication, Government of Rajasthan, based on the number of notified posts.

Lottery priority conditions are as follows:

• Priority will first be given to candidates who have 1 year of sanitation work experience in the same urban local body for which they are applying.
• If posts remain vacant after including such candidates, candidates with 1 year of sanitation experience in any other urban local body within the same district will be included in the lottery process.
• If posts still remain vacant, candidates with 1 year of sanitation experience in any urban local body across the state will be included in the lottery process.

Candidates who meet the Rajasthan domicile requirement and the sanitation experience criteria should complete their online application between 15 August 2026 and 28 September 2026 (till 11:59 PM) to be considered for the lottery-based selection.
