OFDR Graduate/Diploma Project Engineer (Tenure Basis) 2026

Ordnance Factory Dehu Road (OFDR), a unit of Munitions India Limited (MIL) under the Ministry of Defence, has released the OFDR Project Engineer Recruitment 2026 notification for Graduate/Diploma Project Engineer posts on a tenure basis. The recruitment is for candidates with qualifications in Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Eligible Indian citizens can apply offline by post using the prescribed application format.

OFDR has announced a total of 9 provisional vacancies, with 2 vacancies for Chemical Engineering and 7 vacancies for Mechanical Engineering. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess the prescribed educational qualification as per the trade/discipline applied for. For the Chemical trade, candidates must have one of the following: B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Diploma in Chemical Engineering, or B.Sc. with Chemistry as one of the major subjects. For the Mechanical trade, candidates must have either B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

In addition to the above, candidates must meet the apprenticeship requirement. The notification specifies that the candidate should be an ex-graduate apprentice who has undergone a minimum of one year of training under the Apprenticeship Act 1961 in Chemical/Mechanical trade of Ordnance Factories under MIL or in factories manufacturing Military Ammunitions and Explosives.

The qualification must be obtained from a recognized University or Institute in India approved by UGC or from AICTE-approved institutions.

Age Limit

The age limit for applying is a maximum of 30 years for General category candidates as on the closing date of receipt of the application, which is 21 days from the first publication of the advertisement in Employment News. Age will be calculated with reference to the closing date of application receipt.

Age relaxations are provided for reserved categories only for reserved posts: SC/ST candidates get relaxation of 5 years, and OBC-NCL candidates get relaxation of 3 years.

Salary & Pay Scale

In addition to basic pay, the notification mentions applicable allowances and benefits such as IDA (Industrial Dearness Allowance) as prevalent, House Rent Allowance when company quarters are not available, bonus as per the Bonus Act 1965, and EPF and benefits under the Employee Compensation Act. The notification also states that candidates are eligible for 30 days of leave per year (2.5 days per calendar month).

Selection Process

The selection process for OFDR Project Engineer Recruitment 2026 includes merit-based shortlisting, personal interaction/interview, and document verification. The notification outlines the following stages: (1) preparation of a merit list based on marks scored in B.E./B.Tech/Diploma/B.Sc.; (2) personal interaction/interview of shortlisted candidates; (3) preparation of the final merit list with 85% weightage for academic marks and 15% weightage for the interview; (4) document verification for candidates in order of merit; and (5) issuance of an offer of engagement to candidates who qualify.

OFDR reserves the right to decide the cut-off percentage for calling candidates for personal interaction/interview based on marks secured in the qualifying examination.
