ICMR-NIHR Project Human Resource Recruitment 2026

The Indian Council of Medical Research – National Institute of Health Research (ICMR-NIHR), Gorakhpur, has released a recruitment notification for temporary Project Human Resource positions under the ADOPT project (Accelerating Dissemination and Operational Promotion of Health Technology Assessment in India – HTAIn). The hiring is for 5 provisional vacancies across research and administrative roles. Candidates who meet the post-wise educational and age requirements should apply through the Google Sheet application form and be available for the scheduled walk-in interview/written test.

This recruitment drive covers a total of 5 vacancies. The application process is online via a Google Sheet form, with the last date to submit applications being 2026-09-21. The walk-in interview/written test is scheduled from 2026-09-22 to 2026-09-25 at ICMR-NIHR, Gorakhpur, with reporting times mentioned for each position. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Project Research Scientist-III (Non-Medical): Candidates must have either (a) a Post Graduate Degree (including integrated PG degrees) with 5 years of post-qualification experience, or (b) a PhD with 2 years of post-qualification experience. For Engineering/IT/CS, the requirement is either a 4-year graduate degree with 5 years of experience after qualification, or a PG degree with 3 years of post-qualification experience, or a PhD.

Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical): Candidates must have either (a) a Post Graduate Degree (including integrated PG degrees) with 3 years of post-qualification experience, or (b) a PhD. For Engineering/IT/CS, the requirement is a 4-year graduate degree with 3 years of post-qualification experience.

Administrative Officer: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) with at least 3 years of experience under a Government Department/Statutory or Autonomous bodies/Universities/Public Sector Undertakings. Candidates should also have knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel). Alternatively, retired officers of the rank of Section Officer/Under Secretary to the Government of India may apply.

Field Officer: Candidates must have one of the following: (a) a Graduate degree in Public Health from a recognized university with 3 years of work experience from a recognized institution, or (b) a Master’s degree in Public Health, or (c) a Pharm D (Doctor of Pharmacy) from a recognized institution.

Age Limit

Project Research Scientist-III (Non-Medical): Not exceeding 45 years as on the date of walk-in interview/written test. Age relaxation is applicable as per ICMR rules.

Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical): Not exceeding 40 years. Age relaxation is applicable as per ICMR rules.

Administrative Officer: Not exceeding 50 years. Age relaxation is applicable as per ICMR rules.

Field Officer: Not exceeding 35 years. Age relaxation is applicable as per ICMR rules.

4. Fill in the details carefully: Enter personal details, educational qualifications, experience details, and contact information as asked in the form.
5. Apply separately for each post: If you are applying for more than one position, submit a separate application for each post.
6. Download and complete Annexure 1 (application format): Download the application format mentioned in the notification (Annexure 1) and fill it as required.
7. Arrange documents for verification: Keep two sets of photocopies of all documents (self-attested) and also carry the original documents.
8. Attend the walk-in interview/written test: After eligibility verification, shortlisted candidates must report on the scheduled date and reporting time at ICMR-NIHR, Gorakhpur with the required originals and the filled application format.

Salary & Pay Scale

HRA: For the Project Research Scientist-III (Non-Medical), Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical), the remuneration is stated as the base amount plus HRA per month. For Administrative Officer and Field Officer, the notification specifies the monthly remuneration as given above. The notification also notes that emoluments are project-specific and may vary depending on the sanction of the funding agency, and payment depends on fund availability.

Selection Process

Selection for these temporary Project Human Resource positions will be carried out through application verification, followed by a walk-in interview and/or written test (if required), and document verification. The notification states that if the number of candidates is more than the stipulated limit, a written test may be conducted. Qualifying marks for the written test are 35% for SC/ST and 40% for UR/OBC/EWS. Candidates who obtain qualifying marks in the written test will be interviewed. The number of candidates to be interviewed is up to top 5 for Project Research Scientist-III (Non-Medical), up to top 8 for Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical), and up to top 5 each for Administrative Officer and Field Officer. The final merit list is prepared based on marks in the written test and interview; if a written test is not conducted, merit is prepared based on interview marks. Selected candidates must produce original certificates at the time of joining.

Walk-in interview/written test schedule (reporting window): Candidates must report within the given reporting time between 09:00 AM and 10:00 AM at ICMR-NIHR, Gorakhpur. Reporting after the scheduled date/time will not be allowed to appear.
