GSL Trainee Project Executive Recruitment 2026 (Contract)

Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) has released the Trainee Project Executive Recruitment 2026 under Advt No. 05/2026. The recruitment is for young professionals to be engaged on a contract basis, and eligible candidates should apply online through the official GSL recruitment portal. The contract tenure is for 2 years and may be extended further up to 1 year, subject to written extension.

In total, 31 vacancies are announced across five disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Finance, and Naval Architecture. The online application window opens on 2026-09-04 (00:00 hrs) and closes on 2026-10-03 (17:00 hrs). Applications must be submitted only through the online mode on the GSL website; other submission modes are not considered. Selection will be conducted through a written test, followed by document verification, and then a group discussion/interview for candidates who qualify the earlier stages.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must meet the essential educational qualification as per the applied discipline. For engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and Naval Architecture), the requirement is a full-time regular B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engineering) of 4 years in the relevant branch. The notification also specifies acceptable related specializations within each branch (for example, Mechanical includes Mechanical & Industrial Engineering, Mechanical & Production Engineering, and Marine Engineering; Electrical includes Electrical & Electronics/Electrical & Instrumentation; Electronics includes Electronics & Communication, Applied Electronics & Instrumentation, Electronics & Telecommunication, and Instrumentation & Control; Naval Architecture includes Naval Architecture & Shipbuilding, Ocean Engineering, Marine Engineering, and Offshore Engineering).

For Finance, candidates must be a Graduate and qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAI) or qualified Cost Accountant (ICMAI), or hold a 2-year PG Diploma/PG in Finance.

The notification further states that lateral entry to the 3rd semester of an 8-semester course or to the 2nd year of a 4-year course will be considered equivalent. It also allows post-graduate integrated degree courses of 5 years’ duration (after 10+2) for the engineering disciplines.

Age Limit

Age eligibility is calculated as on 2026-07-31. The upper age limit is 28 years for UR/EWS, 31 years for OBC (NCL), and 33 years for SC/ST. Age relaxation is applicable for PwBD candidates as per Government of India guidelines. Additional relaxation is also applicable to SC/ST, OBC (NCL), Ex-Servicemen, and Agniveers as per existing Government guidelines. Candidates who completed Graduate Apprenticeship or Advance Trainee tenure in GSL are eligible for age relaxation equal to the number of years served as Apprentice/Advance Trainee.

Application Fee

The fee must be paid online through SBI e-Pay using debit card/credit card/net banking or other available online methods. Applications submitted without the prescribed fee (where applicable) are liable to be rejected. Once paid, the fee is non-refundable and will not be adjusted against any other application.

3. Select the “Apply Now” option and choose the post/discipline you want to apply for.
4. Read the eligibility criteria and terms and conditions carefully before proceeding.
5. Complete the online application form by entering personal details.
6. Upload the required scanned documents (as specified in the notification).
7. Enter payment details and pay the application fee online (only if applicable).
8. Download and print the “Fee Receipt” generated after successful payment.
9. Print the auto-generated filled-in application form, as it is required for the subsequent selection process.

Note: After completing the online application, candidates will not be allowed to edit the application details.

Salary & Pay Scale

The notification also states that 70% of the consolidated pay will be considered as basic pay for calculation of statutory benefits such as PF and gratuity.

Selection Process

Selection for the Trainee Project Executive posts will be carried out through three stages: a written test, document verification, and group discussion/interview. The written test includes 25% General Aptitude and 75% subject/trade-related questions, conducted either as CBT or pen-and-paper based. Minimum qualifying marks are 40% for General/EWS and 35% for SC/ST/PwBD/OBC (NCL). Candidates who qualify the written test (in the ratio of 1:5 in case of large response) will be called for document verification with all original documents. Only candidates who clear document verification will be eligible for the group discussion/interview stage, where minimum qualifying marks are again 40% for General/EWS and 35% for SC/ST/PwBD/OBC.

For final grading, the notification indicates weightage of 85% for the written test and 15% for the group discussion/interview for the Trainee Project Executive.
