UKPSC Veterinary Officer Recruitment 2026

The Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC), Haridwar, has released the official notification for the recruitment of Veterinary Officer posts under the Animal Husbandry Department, Government of Uttarakhand. The recruitment is conducted through the “Pashuchikitsa Adhikari Chayan Pariksha–2026” (Veterinary Officer Selection Examination–2026). Eligible candidates should apply online if they meet the educational and age requirements and are registered with the Uttarakhand Veterinary Council.

UKPSC is filling a total of 25 vacancies for the post of Veterinary Officer, including 20 posts under general recruitment and 5 posts under special (backlog) recruitment. The online application process begins on 2026-08-25 and remains open until 2026-09-14 (up to 11:59:59 PM), with a separate correction/edit window scheduled from 2026-09-22 to 2026-10-01 (up to 11:59:59 PM). Applications must be submitted online, and selection will be based on a written objective-type examination followed by document verification, as per the merit list prepared from the written test marks.

UKPSC has indicated that the 25 vacancies are distributed across reservation categories and also include horizontal reservations for Uttarakhand women, dependents of freedom fighters, skilled sportspersons, ex-servicemen, orphan children, the state movement (Andolankari) category, and persons with disabilities.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) from a university recognized by the Veterinary Council of India. Alternatively, an equivalent qualification recognized under Section 2(c) of the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984, from an institution recognized by the Government is acceptable. In addition, the candidate must be duly registered with the Uttarakhand Veterinary Council.

Preferential qualifications mentioned include a postgraduate degree/diploma in Veterinary Science (for example, M.V.Sc. in Surgery, Gynaecology, Medicine, Pathology, Public Health, etc.), or at least two years of service in the Territorial Army, or a ‘B’ or ‘C’ certificate from the National Cadet Corps.

Age Limit

The age limit for applying is between 21 and 42 years. The reckoning date for age calculation is 2026-07-01. This means candidates should be born between 1984-07-02 and 2005-07-01 (inclusive as per the stated birth window).

Age relaxation is available for eligible categories as follows: SC/ST/OBC (Uttarakhand) candidates get 5 years relaxation; dependents of freedom fighters (Uttarakhand) get 5 years relaxation; persons with disabilities (Uttarakhand) get 5 years relaxation for Group ‘B’ posts; and ex-servicemen may get up to 5 years relaxation based on the service rendered in the Armed Forces.

Application Fee

The fee details indicate that persons with disabilities are required to pay only the processing fee of 16.36. Orphan children residing in voluntary/government-run homes in Uttarakhand are exempt from the fee. For other categories, the fee is as per the applicable category-wise amount stated above.

How to Apply

1. Visit the Commission’s official website psc.uk.gov.in or the alternate portal ukpsc.net.in and read the detailed advertisement carefully before starting the application.
2. On ukpsc.net.in, use the menu option “How to Apply”. Review the Advertisement Details, Important Dates, and Instructions, then click “Apply Now”.
3. Complete Primary Registration by filling in the required details in the Registration Form, creating a password, and submitting the form. After submission, a confirmation message is sent to your registered mobile number and email.
4. Log in to the portal and fill in your educational details one by one. Use “Add Education Details” to enter qualifications such as High School, Intermediate, Graduate, and other applicable qualifications.
5. Upload your photograph and signature in the required format/specifications and confirm the declaration regarding the accuracy of the uploaded documents.
6. Review all entered information carefully. Tick the verification declaration and click “Proceed”. Then select “Pay Now” to complete the fee payment.
7. After successful submission, click “Print Application” to download and keep a printout of the submitted application form for future reference.

Salary & Pay Scale

Selection Process

Selection for the Veterinary Officer post will be made through a written examination of objective type (multiple choice), followed by document verification. The merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in the written test.

The written examination consists of three papers: Paper-I (General Studies & General Hindi) with 100 questions for 200 marks and a duration of 2 hours; Paper-II (Veterinary Science) with 150 questions for 300 marks and a duration of 3 hours; and Paper-III (Animal Science) with 150 questions for 300 marks and a duration of 3 hours. The total is 400 questions for 800 marks.

Negative marking is applicable: one-fourth of the marks allotted to a question will be deducted for each incorrect answer. Candidates must also secure the minimum qualifying marks prescribed for their respective reservation category to be considered for the merit list.
