Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Applicants need a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognised university or institute approved by the Government of India or its regulatory bodies. The degree must have been completed on or after 1 April 2022. Candidates should have their graduation mark sheets and provisional or final degree certificate. If the university awards CGPA, it must be converted to a percentage, up to two decimal places, while completing the form.

Candidates must be able to read, write, speak and understand a local language of the State or UT selected in the application. The language assessment is conducted during document verification. Applicants who studied the relevant language in Class 10 or Class 12 and can show it on the relevant mark sheet are exempt from this test.

Those who have already completed, or are currently undertaking, an apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act, 1961 with UCO Bank or another organisation cannot apply. Applicants terminated from a previous apprenticeship are also ineligible. The notification excludes candidates with one year or more of training or job experience after completing their qualification, as well as ex-servicemen and disabled ex-servicemen; no ESM reservation is provided.

Age Limit

As of 1 October 2026, the age requirement for UR and EWS applicants is 20 to 28 years. The upper-age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer. PwBD candidates receive 15 years of relaxation for SC/ST, 13 years for OBC and 10 years for UR/EWS. Widows, divorced women and women legally separated from their husbands who have not remarried may be eligible up to age 35 for UR/EWS, 38 for OBC and 40 for SC/ST.

How to Apply

The application requires action on both the NATS portal and the BFSI SSC portal. Complete both parts and pay the applicable fee by 29 October 2026.

  1. Visit nats.education.gov.in and choose “Student Register/Login.” Create an account if you are a new user. Existing NATS users should use their current account rather than registering a second one.
  2. Upload the required details and documents on NATS, including Aadhaar, photograph, signature, date-of-birth proof and graduation certificate. Record your NATS Enrolment ID, which is needed throughout the process.
  3. Log in, find the UCO Bank apprenticeship advertisement and apply for only one State or UT.
  4. Look for an email from BFSI SSC at info@bfsissc.com. Follow its link to complete the remaining form on beep.bfsissc.com, including your category and district preferences.
  5. Pay the examination fee online through the BFSI SSC link by 29 October 2026. If the email has not arrived, check your spam folder before the deadline.
  6. Review the application carefully before submitting it. The notification says changes cannot be made after submission, and your name must match your certificates and NATS account exactly.
  7. Save or download the completed application confirmation for your records.

Keep the relevant documents available for verification: graduation mark sheets and provisional or final degree certificate; Class 10 admit card or certificate as date-of-birth proof; the Aadhaar card uploaded on NATS; and Class 10 or 12 mark sheets showing the local language if claiming exemption from the language test. Where applicable, also prepare an SC/ST certificate, an OBC (NCL) certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026, an EWS Income and Asset Certificate valid for FY 2026–27, a PwBD certificate or UDID card, and a recent passport-size photograph and signature.

Salary & Pay Scale

Selected candidates receive a fixed stipend of 16650 per month during the one-year training period. UCO Bank contributes 10500 per month, while the Government of India contributes 6150 through direct benefit transfer. No other allowance or benefit is paid. Training hours are the same as those of the bank’s clerical staff, but the bank does not provide hostel, transport or accommodation.

Stipend componentMonthly amount
UCO Bank contribution10500
Government of India contribution through DBT6150
Total monthly stipend16650

An apprentice is a trainee, not a UCO Bank employee; PF, ESI and bonus do not apply. The one-year programme does not guarantee a permanent job, and the contract ends automatically after that period. Leaving training midway without a valid reason may require repayment of the stipend and training cost.

Selection Process

Selection consists of an online entrance test conducted by BFSI Sector Skill Council of India, a local-language test where the candidate is not exempt, document verification and medical fitness assessment. The merit list is prepared separately by State and category based on online test marks. If candidates tie at the cut-off, the older candidate receives the higher rank. UCO Bank may also publish a wait list.

The online examination is 60 minutes long and contains 100 questions for 100 marks. The test is taken from home on the candidate’s own camera-enabled laptop, desktop, tablet or smartphone. Candidates must show the same Aadhaar card uploaded to NATS and sit alone; a person may be nearby only for PwBD candidates.

The minimum qualifying score is 40 out of 100 for General/EWS candidates and 35 out of 100 for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates. The notification does not specify negative marking; further exam instructions are to be provided in the BFSI SSC Information Handout. The exam agency may compare candidates’ answer patterns, and candidature may be cancelled and results withheld if answers are found to have been shared.
