Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Most posts under TNPSC Group 2 require a degree from any University recognized by the UGC. However, certain posts have additional or specific educational requirements. For example, the Deputy Commercial Tax Officer post requires B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. The Assistant Section Officer (Law) requires a B.L. degree. The Assistant Section Officer cum Programmer requires a Master’s degree in Computer Application/IT/Computer Science. Candidates must ensure they possess the prescribed educational qualification as on the date of notification, which is 2026-08-11.
In addition to the above, candidates must meet the TNPSC requirement for knowledge of Tamil, which is evidenced through one of the following: SSLC/HSC/Degree with Tamil as a language, Tamil-medium study, or by passing the Second Class Language Test conducted by TNPSC.
Age Limit
The age limit is considered as on 2026-07-01. For candidates who do not belong to SC/SC(A)/ST/MBC/DC/BC(OBCM)/BCM categories, the minimum and maximum ages vary by post category. For Probation Officer, the age range is 22 years to 32 years. For Deputy Commercial Tax Officer, the minimum age is 18 years and the maximum is 32 years; an upper limit of 34 years is allowed for candidates with a Law degree. For SC/SC(A)/ST/MBC/DC/BC(OBCM)/BCM candidates, age limits are relaxed further.
