Selection Process
Written examination (CBT): The two-hour examination carries 100 marks. General Knowledge is an objective paper of 50 questions for 50 marks. English Composition includes 20 objective questions for 20 marks and a subjective section worth 30 marks: an essay of 150 words (10 marks), a letter (5 marks), a précis (5 marks) and translation from Punjabi to English (10 marks). Candidates must score at least 33% in each subject and 40% in aggregate to qualify.
Computer Proficiency Test (CPT): A category-wise number of candidates who qualify the CBT, as decided by the High Court, will be called for the CPT. The test is mandatory but qualifying only. Part I is a 10-minute spreadsheet test worth 10 marks; candidates need at least 4 marks. Part II is an English computer typing test at 30 words per minute and will be checked only for candidates who score 4 or more in Part I.
Testimonials and merit: Candidates who pass both tests will be called for checking of original testimonials or interaction. The final select list is prepared strictly by merit in the online written examination, not by CPT marks. If candidates are tied, the older candidate ranks higher; if their dates of birth are also identical, their order is determined alphabetically from A to Z.
Applicants who meet the requirements should submit a complete online form and pay the applicable fee by 4 November 2026 at 4:00 PM. Check the official website for examination and CPT announcements, as those dates will be notified later.
