RSSB Junior Engineer (JEN) Recruitment 2026 (874 Posts)

The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB), Jaipur has released Advertisement No. 10/2026 for the joint direct recruitment of 874 Junior Engineer (Kanishtha Abhiyanta) posts. The recruitment is being conducted on behalf of the Public Works Department, Water Resources Department, and Public Health Engineering Department. Eligible candidates can apply online through the official SSO portal and should ensure they meet the educational and age requirements before submitting the application.

In total, 874 vacancies have been notified, including 793 posts for non-scheduled areas and 81 posts for scheduled areas. Online registration is available from 16th August 2026 to 14th September 2026 (11:59 PM). The selection will be based on a computer/tablet/OMR-based written examination, with the tentative exam month mentioned as February 2027. The final exam mode (CBT/TBT/OMR) will be decided by the Board and communicated separately.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess the required qualification as per the applied post. For Junior Engineer (Civil) — Degree, the candidate must have a Degree in Civil Engineering from a University/Institution recognized by law in India, or an equivalent qualification declared by the Government. For Junior Engineer (Civil) — Diploma, the candidate must have a Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution. The notification also mentions a Diploma recognized by the Institute of Engineers for exemption from the associate membership examination.

For Junior Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical) — Diploma (Public Health Engineering Department), the candidate must have a Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution, or an equivalent diploma recognized by the Institute of Engineers.

In addition to the above, all candidates must have working knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script and knowledge of Rajasthani culture. Candidates studying in the final year of the qualifying course may apply, but they must obtain the required qualification by the date of the examination. Candidates who acquire the qualification after the exam date will not be considered eligible.

Age Limit

The minimum age is 18 years and the maximum age is 40 years.

The notification provides the following key age relaxations:

• SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS male candidates (Rajasthan domicile): 5 years relaxation
• General category women: 5 years relaxation
• SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS women (Rajasthan domicile): 10 years relaxation
• Widows and divorced women: No upper age limit, provided the candidate is below the retirement age fixed by the state
• Ex-servicemen: 15 years relaxation as per Rajasthan Civil Services Ex-servicemen Rules, 1988, with the upper limit generally capped at 50 years (and 55 years where lower-post experience is mandatory)
• Persons with benchmark disabilities: Additional 5 years over and above the relaxation applicable to their category

Application Fee

The notification also mentions a correction window after closure for which a fee of Rs. 300 is applicable (as stated in the important dates section).

How to Apply

1. Visit the SSO portal at http://sso.rajasthan.gov.in and log in using your SSO ID.
2. On the portal, select the “Recruitment Portal” under Citizen Apps (G2C) and click “Apply Now.”
3. If you have not completed One Time Registration (OTR), complete it first. During OTR, enter your category (Unreserved/Reserved), disability status, and home state details, and then pay the OTR fee.
4. After OTR is completed, proceed to fill the online application form using your SSO ID.
5. Upload a recent photograph (not older than one month) and ensure any visible body identification mark is marked as required.
6. In the OTR dashboard, carefully select the educational qualification in the Document Verification (ODV) section, and upload qualification-related documents in the Document Details section.
7. Fill in your department priority (PWD / Water Resources / Public Health Engineering) carefully. The notification states that no correction to priority order is allowed later.
8. Review all entries on the Preview screen and then submit the application using Final Submit. After successful submission, an Application ID/Number will be generated.
9. Download and save a printout of the submitted application form for future reference.

Important: Information fetched from OTR (including name, father’s name, date of birth, photograph, signature, and thumb impression) cannot be edited directly inside the application form. Any corrections must be made in the OTR profile before re-fetching the OTR data into the application.

Documents Required

• Recent photograph captured through OTR as per the specified guidelines for background, size, and clarity
• Signature and left thumb impression (scanned as per prescribed specifications)
• Educational qualification certificates/mark sheets
• Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS), where applicable, issued by a competent authority before the last date of application
• Domicile/local residence certificate (mandatory for scheduled area posts)
• Disability certificate/UDID card (for PwBD candidates)
• Ex-servicemen discharge certificate/NOC (where applicable)
• Character certificate from the last educational institution attended

Salary & Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be placed at Pay Matrix Level-10 as per the 7th Pay Commission. During the two-year probation period, the notification states that a fixed monthly remuneration (as notified by the state government) will be paid instead of the regular pay scale. It also specifies that no additional allowances such as HRA, DA, City Compensatory Allowance, Special Pay, etc. will be admissible during this probation period.

Selection Process

Selection will be done through a Computer-Based Test (CBT), Tablet-Based Test (TBT), or OMR-Based Offline Test. The Board will decide the mode and communicate it separately. If the exam is conducted in multiple sessions, the notification states that scores will be normalized across sessions.

Exam Pattern (for all JEN posts)

• Question Type: Objective/Multiple Choice
• Minimum Qualifying Marks: 40%
• Negative Marking: 1/3rd (0.33) mark deducted for each wrong answer
• OMR Answer Sheet rule: Each question has 5 options (A–E). If a question is left unattempted, Option E must be marked. If more than 10% of questions have no option darkened at all, the candidate will be disqualified.
