RRB Section Controller CEN 03/2026 (119 Vacancies) Online Apply

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, have released Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 03/2026 for recruitment to the post of Section Controller. The recruitment is for 119 vacancies across various RRBs and zonal railways. Eligible Indian nationals who meet the educational and age requirements can apply online during the notified window.

This recruitment is announced with a tentative total of 119 vacancies. The online application process is scheduled to begin on 2026-07-15 (00:00 Hrs) and close on 2026-08-14 (23:59 Hrs). Candidates must submit their applications online through the official websites of their respective RRBs. Selection will be carried out through a single stage Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by CBAT, document verification, and a medical examination, as detailed in the notification.

Vacancy Details

RRB has announced a total of 119 vacancies for the post of Section Controller across various RRBs and zonal railways. RRB Ahmedabad (Western Railway) has the highest allocation with 11 vacancies, followed by RRB Chennai (Southern Railway) with 9 vacancies and RRB Ranchi (East Central Railway) with 8 vacancies. The category-wise distribution is given below, along with horizontal reservations.

The RRBs mentioned include Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Prayagraj, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Bilaspur, Chandigarh, Chennai, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, Kolkata, Malda, Mumbai, Muzaffarpur, Patna, Ranchi, Secunderabad, Siliguri, and Thiruvananthapuram.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold a University Degree or its equivalent from a recognised Board/University/Institute. Candidates who are awaiting the final result of the prescribed qualification are not eligible to apply.

Age Limit

As on 2026-07-01, the candidate’s age must be between 20 and 33 years. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per Government rules, including 3 years for OBC-NCL and 5 years for SC/ST. Further relaxation is also applicable for Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, and other eligible categories as per the applicable rules.

Medical standard requirements are also part of eligibility. Candidates must meet the A-2 medical standard, which includes specified vision requirements (distant vision 6/9, 6/9 without glasses; near vision Sn 0.6, 0.6 without glasses) and normal colour, binocular, night, and myopic vision. Candidates who have undergone Lasik surgery or any other corrective eye procedure are not eligible for this post.

2. Open the CEN 03/2026 Section Controller online application link once it becomes active during the registration window.
3. Complete the registration process and fill in the required personal details, educational qualification details, and other asked information.
4. Upload the required documents as per the instructions in the notification/application portal.
5. Select the appropriate railway/zone/option and proceed to the fee payment section.
6. Pay the application fee online using one of the available methods (internet banking, debit/credit card, or UPI). Ensure payment is completed within the fee payment deadline.
7. Review the entire application form, submit it, and download/print the confirmation page or application receipt for future reference.

Salary & Pay Scale

Candidates selected for the post of Section Controller will be placed in the pay structure as per Level 6 of the 7th CPC. The initial pay mentioned is 35400 per month. The medical standard required for the post is A-2.

Selection Process

The recruitment follows a multi-stage selection process. First, candidates will appear for a Single Stage Computer Based Test (CBT) of 120 minutes duration with 100 questions. The CBT includes Analytical and Mathematical Capability, Logical Capability, and Mental Reasoning. There is negative marking of 1/3rd mark for each wrong answer. After the CBT, candidates are shortlisted for the CBAT based on merit, with the number of candidates shortlisted being up to 8 times the vacancies for each RRB. The CBAT is computer based aptitude testing, and candidates must secure a minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each test battery to qualify; there is no negative marking in CBAT. Document verification (DV) is conducted based on combined merit with 70% weightage to CBT and 30% weightage to CBAT, and candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called as per merit and railway options. Finally, selected candidates must pass the medical examination conducted by Railway Medical Authorities as per the required A-2 standard.

Minimum qualifying percentage in CBT is also specified: UR and EWS require 40%, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) requires 30%, SC requires 30%, and ST requires 25%.

Eligible candidates should complete their online application between 2026-07-15 and 2026-08-14, and ensure fee payment is completed by 2026-08-16, as the registration window will close after the last date.
