RRB has announced a total of 119 vacancies for the post of Section Controller across various RRBs and zonal railways. Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold a University Degree or its equivalent from a recognised Board/University/Institute. Candidates who are awaiting the final result of the prescribed qualification are not eligible to apply.
Age Limit
As on 2026-07-01, the candidate’s age must be between 20 and 33 years. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per Government rules, including 3 years for OBC-NCL and 5 years for SC/ST. Further relaxation is also applicable for Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, and other eligible categories as per the applicable rules.
Medical standard requirements are also part of eligibility. Candidates must meet the A-2 medical standard, which includes specified vision requirements (distant vision 6/9, 6/9 without glasses; near vision Sn 0.6, 0.6 without glasses) and normal colour, binocular, night, and myopic vision. Candidates who have undergone Lasik surgery or any other corrective eye procedure are not eligible for this post.

Selection Process
The recruitment follows a multi-stage selection process. First, candidates will appear for a Single Stage Computer Based Test (CBT) of 120 minutes duration with 100 questions. The CBT includes Analytical and Mathematical Capability, Logical Capability, and Mental Reasoning. There is negative marking of 1/3rd mark for each wrong answer. After the CBT, candidates are shortlisted for the CBAT based on merit, with the number of candidates shortlisted being up to 8 times the vacancies for each RRB. The CBAT is computer based aptitude testing, and candidates must secure a minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each test battery to qualify; there is no negative marking in CBAT. Document verification (DV) is conducted based on combined merit with 70% weightage to CBT and 30% weightage to CBAT, and candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called as per merit and railway options. Finally, selected candidates must pass the medical examination conducted by Railway Medical Authorities as per the required A-2 standard.
Minimum qualifying percentage in CBT is also specified: UR and EWS require 40%, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) requires 30%, SC requires 30%, and ST requires 25%.
