Salary & Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be placed at Pay Level 2, with an initial pay of ₹19,900. Applicable allowances and benefits are governed by Punjab Government rules.

Selection Process

The selection process comprises a written examination with Part-A and Part-B, a qualifying typing test, and preparation of a final merit list. Part-A tests Punjabi at the 10th-standard level and is qualifying only; candidates must score at least 50%, and these marks are not added to merit. Part-B covers General Knowledge, Reasoning, Mathematics, English and other specified areas, carries 100 marks, and determines merit. A deduction of one-quarter mark applies for each incorrect answer in Part-B.

Candidates who qualify in the written examination are called for a typing test. The required speed is 30 words per minute in English and 30 words per minute in Punjabi using the Unicode-compliant Raavi font. The typing test is qualifying in nature. A common merit list is based on Part-B marks for candidates who pass both Part-A and the typing test.

If candidates tie on marks, preference goes first to the older candidate. If their dates of birth are the same, the candidate with the higher percentage in the required educational qualification is preferred; if the tie remains, higher matriculation marks decide the preference.

On exam day, candidates should carry a printed admit card and an original valid photo ID, such as Aadhaar, Voter ID, PAN, passport or driving licence. They should arrive before the reporting time shown on the hall ticket. Mobile phones, calculators, smartwatches and other electronic devices are not allowed. Candidates should follow the printed instructions and retain the admit card, as it may be needed for the typing test or document verification.

Eligible applicants should download and review their hall ticket well before the 11 October 2026 examination, and contact the PSSSB helpdesk promptly if they find a discrepancy.
