PRL Udaipur Solar Observatory Traineeship 2026

Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), under the Department of Space, Government of India, is recruiting trainees for its Skill Development Programme at Udaipur Solar Observatory in Udaipur, Rajasthan. This one-year, temporary engagement is intended for eligible Indian citizens who meet the qualification and age requirements for one of the advertised traineeships.

There are four positions: two Telescope Operator Trainees, one Office Trainee and one Hindi Translator Trainee. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Telescope Operator Trainee: Applicants must hold a diploma in Electronics and Communications, Electrical or Mechanical engineering; a BE/BTech in one of those disciplines; or an MSc in Physics or Electronics. The qualifying examination must have been passed with at least 60% marks.

Office Trainee: Applicants need a graduate degree in Arts, Commerce, Management, Science, Law or Computer Application from a recognised university or institute, with at least 55% marks. Candidates with engineering qualifications are not eligible for this post.

Hindi Translator Trainee: Applicants must have a master's degree from a recognised university in Hindi, with English as a compulsory or elective subject, or a master's degree in English, with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject. A minimum of 55% marks is required. Candidates with knowledge of Hindi translation will receive preference.

Age Limit

For the Telescope Operator Trainee and Office Trainee positions, the minimum age is 18 years and the maximum age is 28 years, calculated as of 14 October 2026. For the Hindi Translator Trainee position, candidates must be at least 18 and no older than 35 on that date. Age relaxation applies in accordance with Government of India rules; the notification does not specify the relaxation limits for individual categories.

Salary & Pay Scale

The notification specifies monthly stipends for each traineeship. The engagement lasts one year and is temporary; it does not lead to permanent absorption.

Selection Process

PRL will first shortlist applicants, and only shortlisted candidates will be informed about the skill test. The skill test date has not yet been announced. The notification states that PRL/USO's decision will be final and binding on candidates.
