Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has released recruitment for Apprenticeship across its 10 Regional Headquarters. The engagement is for one year and is available for ITI Electrician, Diploma (Electrical/Civil), and Graduate (Electrical/Civil) trades. Eligible candidates should be prepared to register first on the relevant apprenticeship portal (NAPS or NATS) and then apply online on the POWERGRID website during the application window.

POWERGRID has notified 270+ apprenticeship vacancies across Northern, Eastern, North Eastern, Western, and Southern regions through separate regional notifications. The online application link is available from 2026-08-25 to 2026-09-10. Applications must be submitted online only through POWERGRID’s website after completing registration on NAPS (for ITI Electrician) or NATS (for Diploma/Graduate trades). Selection will be purely merit-based based on marks in the qualifying examination, followed by document verification; there is no written test or interview.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have completed a full-time regular course in the relevant discipline to be eligible. The required qualifications are: ITI in Electrician Trade for ITI (Electrician); Diploma in Electrical Engineering (3-year course) for Diploma (Electrical); Diploma in Civil Engineering (3-year course) for Diploma (Civil); and a full-time Engineering degree such as B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc. (Engg.) in Electrical Engineering (4-year course) for Graduate (Electrical) or in Civil Engineering (4-year course) for Graduate (Civil). The recruitment specifically mentions that the engineering degree should be from a full-time regular course.

Age Limit

The minimum age requirement is 18 years completed as on the date of application. In addition to the age criterion, candidates must meet the passing-year window: the result of the final qualifying examination should be declared between 2024-09-11 and 2026-09-10. Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship in any organization are not eligible. Candidates with more than 1 year of job experience are also not eligible. Final-year candidates who are awaiting results of their final examination at the time of application cannot apply.

How to Apply

1. First register on the appropriate government apprenticeship portal: use NAPS (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in) for the ITI Electrician trade, or use NATS (nats.education.gov.in) for Diploma/Graduate trades (Electrical/Civil). Ensure your profile is 100% completed/updated with the required documents.
2. After registration, note down the NAPS/NATS registration/enrolment number generated for you.
3. Visit the official POWERGRID website: www.powergrid.in.
4. Go to Careers → Engagement of Apprentices → Apply Online.
5. Select your preferred region/state and trade, then fill in personal details, academic details, and your NAPS/NATS enrolment details carefully.
6. Upload the required documents, including your photograph and signature, educational certificates and mark sheets, category/disability certificate if applicable, and bank details.
7. Review your application and submit it. Apply for only one region/state/trade of your choice; multiple applications will be summarily rejected.
8. Save and/or print the confirmation of your submitted application for future reference.

Salary & Pay Scale

In addition, where accommodation is not provided, candidates are eligible for HRA of 2500 per month as per the apprenticeship training details.

Selection Process

POWERGRID will select apprentices based on merit derived from the marks obtained in the qualifying educational examination. After application screening, candidates will be called for document verification in merit order in a ratio of 1:5 against the notified training slots. There is no written test or interview. Reservation will be applied for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD as per the Apprentices Act 1961 and the Apprenticeship Rules 1992 (as amended from time to time). A final merit list will be prepared from candidates found suitable during document verification. Selected candidates will then be engaged in merit order after accepting the tri-partite apprenticeship contract on the NATS/NAPS portal, and after submitting a medical certificate and completing police verification. No TA/DA is paid for attending document verification.
