Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Applicants must have passed the Intermediate examination of either the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (Inter CA) or the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (Inter CMA). Final marks must be available because shortlisting is based on aggregate marks; candidates who do not yet have final marks should not apply. Enter the exact percentage in the online form without rounding—for example, 49.99% must not be entered as 50%. Candidates must also meet the practical-training rules of their respective institute.

Applicants claiming reservation must provide the required documents. SC, ST and OBC (NCL) certificates must follow the Government of India format. An OBC (NCL) certificate must be issued on or after 1 April 2026, and the caste must appear on the Central OBC list. EWS applicants need an Income & Asset Certificate valid for 2026–27. PwBD applicants must submit a disability certificate under the RPwD Rules, 2017. The category selected in the application cannot be changed later.

Age Limit

The age is calculated as of 26 October 2026. Candidates must be at least 18 and no older than 56 on that date; the notification gives the corresponding date-of-birth range as 26 October 1970 to 27 October 2008. No separate age-relaxation details are provided in the supplied notification text.

Application Fee

NPCIL does not charge an application fee. Applying is free for candidates of every category.

Salary & Pay Scale

Interns receive a stipend of INR 20,000 per month. If accommodation is unavailable at the assigned unit or headquarters, NPCIL provides an additional INR 5,000 per month, bringing the monthly amount to INR 25,000. Where accommodation is available, a single room may be provided at a normal licence fee.

Monthly stipendINR 20,000For selected interns
Accommodation allowanceINR 5,000 per monthPayable if accommodation is not available

The training period is 12 months and may be extended by up to a further 12 months, depending on performance and the rules of the candidate’s institute. A completion certificate is provided at the end of the training. The general work schedule is eight hours a day, including a one-hour lunch break, five days a week, in the general shift. Interns receive one paid leave day per month, up to 12 days a year; additional absence results in a stipend deduction. Site transport is free subject to availability, and free OPD and first-aid services are available. Injury compensation is governed by the Employees’ Compensation Act, 1923. NPCIL is not obligated to offer employment after the internship.

Selection Process

There is no written examination. First, NPCIL shortlists candidates in a 1:5 ratio using aggregate Inter CA or Inter CMA marks; shortlisted applicants are notified by email. The chosen unit or region then conducts a virtual personal interview. Candidates can download the e-call letter, including the interview time and link, from Applicant’s Login. Certificate verification and a medical examination follow, with police verification before joining. Candidates should keep their Aadhaar card and online application form ready for the interview.

If candidates are tied, the candidate with higher Inter CA/CMA marks ranks higher. If both interview and examination marks are equal, the older candidate receives preference; if all those details are equal, the merit list is decided alphabetically by name. NPCIL maintains a waitlist equal in size to the main list for one year from the panel approval date.

Eligible Inter CA and Inter CMA candidates should submit the online form before 5:00 PM on 26 October 2026 and retain their application number and printed form.
