MRPL Assistant Engineer (E2) Recruitment 2026

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) has released the MRPL Assistant Engineer Recruitment 2026 under Advertisement No. 94/2026. The recruitment is for Assistant Engineer in the ‘E2’ Grade of the Management Cadre and will be filled through valid GATE-2026 marks. Eligible Indian nationals who have a valid GATE-2026 score in the relevant discipline can apply online during the notified window.

MRPL is hiring for a total of 26 Assistant Engineer vacancies. Online applications will be accepted from 2026-08-21 (10:00 Hrs IST) until 2026-09-19 (18:00 Hrs IST). Candidates must apply online only through the official MRPL careers portal. Selection will be based on GATE-2026 score shortlisting followed by Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI), with GD/PI calls planned in a 1:5 ratio (1 post to 5 candidates) as per reservation. Vacancy Details

MRPL has announced 26 vacancies for Assistant Engineer (‘E2’ Grade, Management Cadre). The recruitment is split into two parts: a Special Recruitment Drive for SC/ST/OBC(NCL) candidates in Mechanical and Electrical disciplines, and a general recruitment drive for the Chemical discipline. As per the vacancy breakup mentioned in the notification, Mechanical has 8 vacancies, Electrical has 3 vacancies, and Chemical has 15 vacancies.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have a valid GATE-2026 score in the relevant paper corresponding to their discipline. MRPL will not consider results from any previous or other GATE examinations. The essential qualification is a 4-year BE/B.Tech/B.Sc. Engineering degree (or an equivalent 5-year integrated dual degree) from a UGC-recognized university, an AICTE-approved institution, or a relevant statutory council.

Minimum marks in the essential qualification are as follows: UR/EWS/OBC(NCL) candidates must have at least 60% aggregate marks, while SC/ST/PwBD candidates must have at least 50% aggregate marks. The notification also specifies that candidates with degrees such as Production Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Mechatronics, or Construction Engineering are not eligible to apply.

Age Limit

The maximum age limit is 27 years for Unreserved (UR) and EWS category candidates as on the cut-off date of 2026-09-19. Age relaxation is available as per category: OBC(NCL) candidates get 3 years relaxation; SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation; PwBD candidates (minimum 40% disability) get 10 years relaxation; and Ex-Servicemen will be eligible for relaxation as per Government of India rules.

3. Sign in and fill in the required details such as educational qualifications, caste category, and GATE-2026 marks.
4. After submission of particulars, note that an Application ID is generated and is sent to the candidate via email/SMS.
5. For General/OBC(NCL)/EWS candidates: click “Pay Now”, complete the application fee payment, and upload the payment confirmation receipt.
6. For SC/ST/PwBD/ESM candidates: proceed directly to upload documents (fee is exempted).
7. Upload the required scanned documents, including your photograph, signature, GATE-2026 Score Card, and category certificates (as applicable).

Selection Process

Selection for MRPL Assistant Engineer Recruitment 2026 will be carried out in stages. First, candidates will be shortlisted for further rounds based on marks obtained in the GATE-2026 examination (out of 100). Shortlisting for Group Discussion and Personal Interview will be done in a ratio of 1:5 (1 post to 5 candidates) as per reservation of posts. If there is a tie in GATE marks, preference will be given to the candidate with higher marks in the essential qualification. The final merit list will be prepared as per MRPL’s prevailing rules.
