Salary & Pay Scale
The stated pay scale is Rs. 5,200 to Rs. 20,200 under the 6th Central Pay Commission, with grade pay ranging from Rs. 1,900 to Rs. 2,800. The notification details supplied here do not specify the grade pay separately for each post.
Selection Process
Selection is conducted in two stages: an online preliminary examination carrying 100 marks and a Hindi or English shorthand skill test carrying 100 marks. The preliminary examination is common to all four posts, consists of multiple-choice questions worth one mark each, and lasts 120 minutes. Its marks are used only for screening and are not counted in the final result.
The preliminary paper has 100 questions: 20 on General Knowledge and General Studies, including Madhya Pradesh general knowledge; 20 on Mathematics and Logical Reasoning; 20 on General Hindi; 20 on English Knowledge; and 20 on Computer Knowledge. The General Knowledge and Studies, Mathematics and Reasoning sections are available in Hindi and English; General Hindi is in Hindi, while English Knowledge and Computer Knowledge are in English.
For the three stenographer posts, candidates shortlisted from category-wise merit in an approximate ratio of one to five per vacancy will be called for the Hindi shorthand test. For Assistant Grade-III (English Knowing), the same approximate category-wise shortlisting ratio applies for the English shorthand test. Candidates tied at the cutoff are included even if this takes the number beyond the approximate ratio, and the stenographer skill test is held collectively. The shorthand test involves a dictation of about 400 words in five minutes, followed by 30 minutes for transcription: Hindi for stenographer posts and English for Assistant Grade-III (English Knowing). A mock dictation is given beforehand, and a notebook is provided for taking dictation. Writing the dictation in longhand in that notebook results in deduction of full marks. Creating a disturbance during dictation or transcription, or engaging in unnecessary arguments, can lead to expulsion from the examination hall and cancellation of candidature.
The skill test is qualifying in nature. Minimum qualifying marks are 55% for General and OBC candidates, 45% for SC candidates, 40% for ST and Divyang candidates, and 49.5% for EWS candidates. If candidates obtain equal marks, the older candidate receives preference.
Eligible applicants should submit their forms and complete fee payment by 27 October 2026 at 05:00 PM. Check the official notification and website for the complete instructions and any subsequent updates.
