MECON FTFT Recruitment 2026: 159 Contract Posts

MECON Limited, a Miniratna Schedule A public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Steel, Government of India, is recruiting for Full Time Fixed Tenure (FTFT) positions under Advertisement No. 2026/Cont/04. Candidates with the specified education and relevant post-qualification experience in engineering, safety, contracts and other listed disciplines can apply online for project-based work across India.

Experience requirements vary by post code and may concern specific areas such as Primavera planning, quality assurance and quality control, thermal power, steel plant SMS or EIA/EMP. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Applicants need the regular, full-time qualification specified for their chosen post from a recognised university or institute approved by UGC or AICTE. Requirements vary by position and include relevant B.E./B.Tech or diploma qualifications, as well as specified B.Sc./M.Sc. qualifications for some roles. Where the post calls for a safety certificate or diploma, the notification allows such certificate courses to be completed part time.

The required experience is post-qualification experience in the relevant field, ranging by post from one to 16 years. MECON counts full-time, regularly salaried work in the relevant area. Management trainee, executive trainee or graduate trainee on-the-job training is counted only when completed in a PSU, and apprenticeship under the Apprenticeship Act is accepted. Freelance or entrepreneurial work, internships, articleship, teaching, research and academic project work are not counted. Candidates must provide experience certificates from every previous employer; self-declarations are not accepted.

Age Limit

The upper age limit for General and EWS applicants is 50 years as of 25 September 2026. Relaxation is available under Government of India rules: 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), 5 years for SC/ST, 10 years for PwD candidates in the General category, 13 years for PwD OBC (NCL), and 15 years for PwD SC/ST. Candidates domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir during 1 January 1980 to 31 December 1989 receive 5 years of relaxation; ex-servicemen receive relaxation under Government of India rules. SC, ST and OBC candidates applying for unreserved posts do not receive age or fee relaxation.

How to Apply

1. Visit the MECON website and open Careers, then Career Opportunities, then Apply Online.
2. Locate Advertisement No. 2026/Cont/04 and read the full official notification, including the post-specific qualification and experience conditions.
3. Register using an active email address and mobile number. The notification states that these details cannot be changed later.
4. Complete the online form with your personal, educational and employment information. Review the details carefully because edits are not allowed after submission.
5. Upload a passport-size photograph and signature as JPG/JPEG files, each no larger than 40 KB.
6. Combine all self-attested supporting documents into a single PDF file of up to 1 MB. The file must not be password-protected.
7. Pay the 500 application fee online if it applies to you, then click “Verify” and check that the application status reads “Submitted”.

Salary & Pay Scale

The posts offer consolidated monthly pay of 41190 to 78390 INR, depending on position and post code. The vacancy table shows the specified monthly amount for each listed role; some combined-grade entries have more than one pay figure. Selected candidates may also receive a site allowance of 7.5% of pay at site or project locations, a metro allowance of 2.5% at metro locations, and HRA of 5% if company accommodation is not used. An annual increment of 3% of consolidated pay is listed.

Medical provisions include Ispat Hospital facilities at Ranchi, access to a retainer doctor elsewhere, and mediclaim premium reimbursement up to 15000 INR for a 400000 INR floater cover. Listed leave includes 12 days of casual leave, 18 days of earned leave that may accumulate up to 45 days, 14 days of half-pay leave, maternity leave on the terms applicable to regular staff, national and festival holidays, and four restricted holidays. The benefits also include a Group Personal Accident Policy with 2500000 INR sum insured.

The contract period depends on the post and ranges from one to five years. The initial offer is for one year, with yearly renewal up to the post’s contract limit subject to performance and the company’s requirements.

Selection Process

Selection is based on a personal interview. MECON will publish the interview shortlist, date and venue on its website and send interview information to shortlisted applicants by email. Candidates who attend will also undergo document verification and a medical examination. Outstation candidates are eligible for travel allowance at 3AC/CC rail fare or 7 INR per kilometre by road, whichever is lower. The notification indicates that MECON may change the selection method if required.
