Madras High Court Data Entry Operator Recruitment 2026

The High Court of Madras has issued Notification No. 217/2026 to recruit Data Entry Operators for e-Sewa Kendra services at the Principal Seat of the Madras High Court and in the District Judiciary. Role and main duties

Data Entry Operators will support the public-facing digital services delivered through e-Sewa Kendra. The notification lists duties that include:

• Answering questions about judges being on leave.
• Providing information about court locations, cause lists and whether a case has been taken up for hearing.
• Guiding people on accessing free legal services through the District Legal Services Authority, High Court Legal Services Committee and Supreme Court Legal Services Committee.
• Helping facilitate traffic-challan disposal in virtual courts, online compounding of traffic challans and other petty offences.
• Responding to other questions and assisting with facilities available digitally under the e-Courts Project.
• Undertaking other duties assigned by the Registrar (IT-cum-Statistics), Madras High Court.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Applicants must possess at least one of the qualifications listed in the notification: B.Sc. in Computer Science, B.Sc. in Information Technology, BCA, B.E. in Computer Science, B.Tech, MCA, M.Sc. in Computer Science, M.E. in Computer Science, M.Tech or M.Sc. in Information Technology. Age Limit

Selection Process

Selection consists of a written-cum-skill test and a viva voce. The written test syllabus covers Windows and Linux basics, including operating-system concepts and types, file and folder management, user accounts and permissions, software installation and updates, and basic commands. Networking topics include basic concepts, LAN, WAN and Wi-Fi, IP addresses, DNS, DHCP, switches, routers, firewalls, network cables and connectivity, basic commands and troubleshooting, and internet and network security. Document-related topics include creating and managing documents, document types and extensions, Office and Excel basics, PDF creation, conversion, merging and splitting, digital signatures, and file naming, organisation and security. Video-conferencing topics include basic concepts, microphones, speakers, cameras and displays, audio and video configuration, WebEx, Microsoft Teams and other platforms, and troubleshooting hardware and software components. Hardware topics include computer components such as the CPU, RAM, HDD/SSD and motherboard; printers, scanners and peripherals; installation, backups, fault identification, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance. Internet topics include browsers and search engines, websites, URLs and DNS, email and attachments, connectivity and Wi-Fi, cloud services, cybersecurity and safe internet use, phishing, malware and password security.

Skill test topics

The practical skill test covers scanning and converting documents to OCR, converting PDFs to OCR, using LibreOffice, configuring a local area network including IP configurations, hardware troubleshooting and driver installation.
