Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) has released the KRCL Recruitment 2026 notification on 31 July 2026 to fill 201 vacancies for posts including Junior Engineer, Senior Section Engineer, Section Controller, Station Master, Goods Train Manager, Assistant Loco Pilot, Technician, Commercial Supervisor, and Track Maintainer. Applications are accepted only in online mode from eligible Land Loser candidates, Employment Exchange registered candidates, domicile candidates of Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka, and eligible KRCL employees.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Educational qualification requirements vary by post. The notification indicates that Track Maintainer requires a 10th pass certificate. For Assistant Loco Pilot, Technician and ESTM-III, the requirement is based on ITI/Matriculation-based trades. Junior Engineer posts require a Diploma in the relevant Engineering discipline. Senior Section Engineer posts require a Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant Engineering discipline. For Section Controller, Station Master, Goods Train Manager and Commercial Supervisor, the requirement is graduation in any discipline. Age Limit

Age is calculated as on 01.08.2026. For Group ‘C’ posts, the age limit is 18 to 36 years. For Track Maintainer (erstwhile Group ‘D’), the age limit is 18 to 45 years.

Age relaxation is applicable for Group ‘C’ posts as follows: SC and ST candidates get 5 years relaxation (maximum upper age 41 years). OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years relaxation (maximum upper age 39 years). Ex-Servicemen receive relaxation with the maximum upper age varying by category—3 years for UR & EWS (maximum upper age 39 years), 6 years for OBC-NCL (maximum upper age 42 years), and 8 years for SC & ST (maximum upper age 44 years). PwBD candidates get 10 years relaxation for UR & EWS (maximum upper age 46 years), 13 years for OBC-NCL (maximum upper age 49 years), and 15 years for SC & ST (maximum upper age 51 years). Serving KRCL employees also have category-wise maximum upper age limits: 40 years for UR & EWS, 43 years for OBC-NCL, and 45 years for SC & ST. For Ex-Servicemen, the relaxation is calculated after deducting the length of military service from the actual age.

For Track Maintainer (erstwhile Group ‘D’), age relaxation is available for SC and ST candidates (5 years; maximum upper age 50 years) and for Ex-Servicemen (3 years for UR & EWS with maximum upper age 48 years, and 8 years for SC & ST with maximum upper age 53 years). The same Ex-Servicemen calculation method applies as mentioned for Group ‘C’ posts.

Application Fee

The examination fee is 1180 (1000 plus 18% GST) per examination, plus applicable payment gateway charges. Candidates from SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, Female, Minorities, Economically Backward Class (EBC) and PwBD categories are eligible for a refund of the examination fee (net of bank charges) upon appearing in the CBT. Fee payment is accepted only through online mode using net banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI.

How to Apply

  1. Go to the official KRCL website: www.konkanrailway.com.
  2. Complete the registration using your basic details to generate a registration number. The registration number and password will be sent to you via email and SMS.
  3. Activate the application link sent to your registered email to access the application form.
  4. Fill in personal details, educational details, and post-preference details carefully. Post preference cannot be changed after submission.
  5. Upload the required scanned documents, including a recent colour passport-size photograph and signature.
  6. Pay the applicable examination fee online using the available payment methods.
  7. Review all entries and submit the application. Keep a printed copy of the submitted application for your records. Do not send the printed copy to KRCL.

Candidates may apply for multiple posts in a single application in the order of preference, provided they are eligible and pay the applicable fee for each CBT examination group selected. If a candidate attempts to register more than once, all registrations will be rejected and the candidate may be debarred from the selection process.

Selection Process

The recruitment process varies by post category. For Section Controller, Station Master and Assistant Loco Pilot, the selection includes a Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by a Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) or an OMR-based Aptitude Test, then Document Verification (DV) and a Medical Examination. Merit for these posts is prepared by assigning 70% weightage to CBT marks and 30% weightage to aptitude test marks.

For Senior Section Engineer (Mechanical & S&T), Junior Engineer (Civil & Mechanical), Goods Train Manager, Commercial Supervisor, Technician-III and ESTM-III, the process includes a CBT, Document Verification, and Medical Examination.

For Track Maintainer, the process includes a CBT, Document Verification, a mandatory qualifying Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and Medical Examination. CBTs are tentatively scheduled for September 2026. The CBT will have negative marking of one mark for each wrong answer. The CBT will be conducted in five languages: English, Hindi, Marathi, Konkani and Kannada. For Section Controller, Station Master and Assistant Loco Pilot, the CBAT/OMR-based aptitude test will be in English and Hindi only.

CBT qualifying marks are 50% for UR & EWS and 40% for OBC-NCL, SC & ST for Group C posts. For Track Maintainer (Group D), qualifying marks are 40% for UR & EWS and 30% for OBC-NCL, SC & ST. Qualifying marks are reduced by 2% for PwBD candidates.

The Track Maintainer PET includes weight carrying and running. Male candidates must lift and carry 35 kg for 100 meters in 2 minutes and run 1000 meters in 4 minutes 15 seconds. Female candidates must lift and carry 20 kg for 100 meters in 2 minutes and run 1000 meters in 5 minutes 40 seconds.

Eligible candidates should complete their online application once the registration window opens in August 2026 and submit it before the final last date announced on the KRCL website.
