Selection for the Residential School Teacher posts will be made purely through a competitive written examination. The written test will be conducted either in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode or Offline-OMR mode. Exam centre information will be communicated later through admit cards downloaded from the official website.
The exam pattern consists of two papers, each carrying 100 marks, and each paper is to be completed in 2 hours. Paper-1 is based on General Knowledge, which includes topics such as current affairs and daily-life topics, the Indian Constitution, Karnataka-related Indian history and geography, state/regional current affairs, rural development, Panchayat Raj and cooperative societies, Karnataka’s economic development, and environmental issues. Paper-2 covers General Kannada, General English, and Computer Knowledge.
To qualify, candidates must score a minimum of 35% marks in the competitive examination. Negative marking is applicable: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. If more than one option is marked for a question, it will also be treated as a wrong answer for negative marking purposes.
A separate Kannada Language Test is required for candidates who have not studied Kannada as a first or second language up to SSLC (or a higher qualifying exam), or who have not otherwise passed a Kannada language examination recognized by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board. This qualifying Kannada test carries 150 marks, and candidates must score a minimum of 50 marks to qualify. Marks obtained in this Kannada test are not counted toward merit or final selection.
Candidates who meet the educational and TET requirements should complete their online application before 18 September 2026, and ensure that the fee payment is completed by 19 September 2026.
