Selection Process
The selection process consists of a written test followed by document verification. The written test carries different weightage depending on the cadre: UT cadre (85 marks), divisional cadre (80 marks), and district cadre (75 marks). After the written test, additional points are awarded for specific criteria. For UT cadre, 5 marks are given for having no family member in government service, 5 marks for widows/divorced women/orphan girls, and 5 marks for casual workers engaged for 5+ years, making a total of 100 marks. For divisional cadre, the additional points include 5 marks for candidate of home division, 5 marks for family member not in government service, 5 marks for widows/divorced women/orphan girls, and 5 marks for casual workers engaged for 5+ years, totaling 100 marks. For district cadre, the additional points include 10 marks for candidate of home district, and 5 marks each for family member not in government service, widows/divorced women/orphan girls, and casual workers engaged for 5+ years, totaling 100 marks. The exam pattern is objective-type with multiple choice questions, language as English only, and negative marking of one-fourth of marks for each wrong answer. The syllabus is to be notified separately on the JKSSB website.
Final selection follows a merit-cum-preference method where overall merit is calculated as written test marks plus additional points. Cadres and departments are allocated based on merit-cum-preference, and candidates’ preferences are indicated in the online application or at a later stage. Once allocation is notified, it is final and binding.
Eligible candidates should complete the online application and fee payment well before 2026-11-03 to avoid last-minute issues.
