Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess qualifications as per the discipline/post they apply for, from a recognized University/Institute as a full-time regular course. The eligibility is defined using discipline codes and corresponding apprentice categories. For Technician Apprentices (Mechanical/Electrical/etc.), candidates must have a 3-year regular full-time Diploma in the relevant engineering branch with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwBD). For Trade Apprentices (Fitter/Electrician/etc.), candidates must have Matriculation with a regular full-time 2-year ITI course in the relevant trade recognized by NCVT/SCVT. For Graduate Apprentices, candidates must have a regular full-time graduate degree in any discipline (BBA/BA/B.Com/B.Sc.) with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwBD). For Trade Apprentices—Data Entry Operator, eligibility is Class 12th (but below graduate) for the “Fresher” track, and Class 12th (but below graduate) plus a Skill Certificate of “Domestic Data Entry Operator” for the “Skill Certificate Holders” track.

Age Limit

Candidates must be between 18 and 24 years of age as on 2026-08-31. The age calculation is based on the date of birth mentioned in official documents. The upper age limit varies by category as given below: SC/ST candidates can apply up to 29 years, OBC (NCL) candidates up to 27 years, PwBD candidates have higher upper age limits depending on their reservation category (UR/EWS up to 34 years, OBC up to 37 years, and SC/ST up to 39 years).

Age relaxation is applicable as per government norms. Candidates must provide original certificates during document verification to claim relaxation benefits. The relaxation is specified as 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (NCL), 10 years for PwBD (Unreserved/EWS), 13 years for PwBD (OBC), and 15 years for PwBD (SC/ST).

Salary & Pay Scale

The apprenticeship training is for 12 months. The stipend is as per the Apprentices Act, 1961 and the Apprentices Rules, 1992. In addition to the stipend, IOCL provides an extra allowance of 2500 INR per month towards miscellaneous expenses. For Graduate and Technician Apprentices, a portion of the stipend is disbursed directly under the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) mechanism via the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT).

Selection Process

Selection for IOCL Marketing Division NR Apprentice 2026 is merit-based and does not involve any written test or interview. A merit list is prepared based on the percentage of marks obtained in the prescribed qualification for each post. If multiple candidates have the same marks, the candidate with an earlier date of birth (older age) is given preference; if the date of birth is also the same, the candidate with a higher percentage in matriculation is considered. Candidates applying for apprenticeship training for the first time are given preference. Shortlisted candidates will then undergo document verification, followed by medical fitness assessment as per Indian Oil’s pre-engagement medical standards.
