IOB SO Recruitment 2026 (291 Generalist & Specialist Officer Posts)

Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has released the IOB SO Recruitment 2026 notification for 291 vacancies for Generalist and Specialist Officer roles. Eligible candidates can apply online through the bank’s official careers portal. The recruitment covers posts in JMG Scale I, MMG Scale II and MMG Scale III, including roles such as Branch Manager, IT Officer, Information Security Officer, Credit Officer, Risk Officer and Security Officer.

The recruitment is for a total of 291 vacancies, with applications accepted online from 2026-08-29 to 2026-09-15. Candidates must submit the application form and complete the fee/intimation payment within the same deadline. Selection will be conducted through an Online Examination followed by an Interview, with only those who qualify in the online test being called for the interview stage.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must meet the educational qualification requirements specified for the particular post they are applying for. The recruitment is for multiple roles, and the required degrees and specializations vary by grade and job function. For example, the Manager (Branch Management) post requires a Degree (Graduation) in any discipline, while IT-related roles require engineering/computer science qualifications such as B.E./B.Tech (CS/IT/ECE/E&I), MCA, or M.Sc. (CS/IT). Information Security and Information Security Audit roles require B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in relevant specializations such as CS/IT/ECE/Cyber Security/Information Security. Credit roles require a bachelor’s degree along with MBA (Finance) or equivalent qualifications such as PGDBA/PGDBM/MMS (Finance), or professional qualifications like CA or CMA. Risk roles require a graduation plus MBA (Finance) or equivalent finance-related qualifications, or graduation with specified risk certifications. The Assistant Manager (Security) post requires a graduate qualification along with a minimum 3-month certification in Computer/IT.

Age Limit

The age limits are post-specific and are to be computed as on 2026-08-01. The minimum and maximum ages vary across roles. For instance, Manager (Branch Management) is 23 to 33 years, Manager (IT) is 25 to 35 years, Manager (Information Security) is 22 to 32 years, and Senior Manager roles generally range from 25 to 38 years depending on the specialization. Assistant Manager (Security) has an age range of 30 to 45 years.

Upper age relaxation is available as per extant Government guidelines. The notification provides the following relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates get 3 years, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) get 10 years, persons affected by 1984 riots get 5 years, and Ex-servicemen (as defined) get 5 years. Additionally, cumulative age relaxation is available to SC/ST/OBC candidates, subject to a maximum upper age limit of 50 years. The notification also states that there is no reservation for Ex-servicemen in the Officers’ cadre, but age relaxation is applicable.

Application Fee

The application fee/intimation charges are non-refundable. Payment can be made online using options such as Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, BHIM, and UPI. The fee cannot be adjusted against any other recruitment process.

How to Apply

1. Go to www.iob.bank.in and open the “Careers” page.
2. Open the link titled “Recruitment of Generalist/Specialist Officers in Various Scales – 2026-27” and choose the post you want to apply for.
3. Click “Register Online” and complete the first-time registration to receive your Registration Number and Password via email/SMS.
4. Log in and fill in all required details in the online application form carefully.
5. Scan and upload your photograph, signature, left thumb impression, and handwritten declaration as per the specifications mentioned in Annexure I.
6. After verifying all details, click “COMPLETE REGISTRATION”. Ensure that your name matches your certificates/mark sheets exactly.
7. Pay the prescribed application fee/intimation charges online and save the e-receipt generated after payment.
8. Download and print the system-generated application form along with the e-receipt for future reference.

Salary & Pay Scale

In addition to the pay scale, selected candidates will receive Dearness Allowance (DA), HRA, CCA, and other allowances as per the rules in force.

Selection Process

Selection will be made through an Online Examination followed by a Personal Interview. Only candidates who qualify in the Online Examination will be called for the Interview. The Online Examination is conducted in two different patterns depending on the post.

• Generalist Officer (Branch Management): The test includes English Language (25 questions, 25 marks, English medium, 30 minutes) and Professional Knowledge (75 questions, 75 marks, English & Hindi medium, 90 minutes), for a total of 100 questions/100 marks and a duration of 2 hours.
• All Other Posts (Scale I/II/III): The test includes English Language (25 questions, 25 marks, English medium, 30 minutes), General Awareness (Banking Industry) (25 questions, 25 marks, English medium, 30 minutes), and Professional Knowledge (post-specific) (50 questions, 50 marks, English medium, 60 minutes), for a total of 100 questions/100 marks and a duration of 2 hours.

There is no minimum qualifying mark for the General Awareness and English Language sections. However, candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks overall: 35% for unreserved candidates and 30% for reserved candidates in the Online Examination. The notification also specifies a penalty of 1/4th mark for each wrong answer; unattempted questions carry no penalty.

The Interview carries a maximum of 100 marks and evaluates Role-related Industry Exposure, Subject Knowledge, and Communication Skills. Minimum qualifying marks in the Interview are 50% for unreserved candidates and 45% for reserved candidates. The final merit list is prepared with 80% weightage for the Online Examination and 20% weightage for the Interview.
