IISc Junior Security Assistant Recruitment 2026

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, has invited online applications for Junior Security Assistant posts on contract in its Security and Fire Fighting Department. The opportunity is intended for eligible combatant ex-Agniveers, ex-servicemen and former Central Armed Police Forces personnel who meet the education, service, age and driving-licence requirements.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Applicants must have passed SSLC, Matriculation or an equivalent examination. They must also belong to one of the eligible service groups: combatant ex-Agniveers of the Indian Army, Indian Navy or Indian Air Force (Agniveervayu); ex-servicemen; or ex-CAPF personnel. The notification requires at least four years of service and a discharge certificate. Combatant Agniveers from the first batch who have not yet completed their four-year engagement are also eligible to apply.

A valid two-wheeler driving licence is required and should be uploaded in the application portal’s “Any Other Relevant Certificates” field. Candidates must be Indian citizens and should have a good physique, communication and interpersonal abilities, and fluency in written and spoken English. Prescribed qualifications must be held by the application deadline. The competent authority may relax qualification or experience requirements in cases of long and satisfactory service. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee an interview call.

Age Limit

The age limit is 30 years, assessed on the last date for receipt of applications, 16 October 2026. Applicable age relaxation may be allowed under Government of India norms. Candidates seeking reservation or age relaxation must provide the required certificate from the competent authority in the prescribed format at document verification. EWS applicants must hold an Income and Asset Certificate valid for 2026–2027, based on financial year 2025–2026 income and issued in accordance with Government of India norms.

Salary & Pay Scale

The consolidated monthly remuneration is INR 35,000. An annual increment of up to 10% may be granted, with no more than four such revisions, subject to a committee recommendation and approval by the competent authority. The engagement is initially for one year and may be renewed annually up to a maximum of five years, depending on satisfactory performance and the Institute’s requirements. The tenure begins on the date of joining; for candidates previously engaged at IISc through HR Department appointments, that prior service counts towards the five-year maximum.

This is a temporary contract appointment and carries no claim to service benefits such as provident fund, pension, seniority or promotion. Either party may terminate the contract by giving one month’s notice. Engagement is subject to medical fitness.

Selection Process

The selection stages are a Physical Efficiency Test and a Trade Test, followed by an interview for candidates shortlisted after the tests. The process will take place at the Institute, with the date to be announced later. Shortlisted candidates will be informed by email about the date, time and mode of selection; interview call letters are sent only to shortlisted applicants. No travel or daily allowance (TA/DA) will be paid for attending. No accommodation will be provided on the Institute campus during the selection visit.
