The High Court of Himachal Pradesh has invited online applications for regular Stenographer (Group-C) posts under Advertisement Notice No. HC-Advt./2026 (4). Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Applicants must be graduates and have three years of experience as a Stenotypist, Judgment Writer or Stenographer in a government office or a reputed organisation. They must have English stenography speed of 100 words per minute and be able to transcribe the dictated material accurately within a period five times the time allowed for dictation. Candidates must also have English computer typing speed of 50 words per minute; a separate typing test will be held. A maximum of 10% mistakes is permitted in the transcription and typing-test material. Candidates exceeding that error limit will be declared unqualified.

Recruitment is to be conducted under Schedule-IV (Part-H) of the Himachal Pradesh High Court Officers and the Members of Staff (Recruitment, Promotion, Conditions of Service, Conduct & Appeal) Rules, 2015. Candidates should consult the detailed notification for the applicable examination scheme, qualifying standards and other instructions.

Age Limit

Age is reckoned as of 1 January 2026. Unreserved and EWS applicants must be between 18 and 45 years old. The notification lists an age range of 18 to 50 years for Himachal Pradesh Government employees. It also specifies a five-year upper-age relaxation for bona fide reserved-category candidates of Himachal Pradesh, other than EWS, and persons with benchmark disabilities from Himachal Pradesh, where the post is reserved for those categories. Relaxation for HP Government employees is subject to applicable High Court directions and Government of Himachal Pradesh instructions.

Prepare your graduation certificate, matriculation certificate as age proof, identity proof such as Aadhaar, driving licence or passport, experience certificate, applicable category certificate and details of any higher educational qualification.

Salary & Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be appointed in Pay Level 11 of the pay matrix, with a stated salary range of INR 38,500 to INR 122,700 per month. The notification also lists basic pay, pay level, dearness allowance, house rent allowance, medical benefits and other admissible allowances among the salary-related components; it does not provide separate amounts for these components.
