HP High Court Group C and D Recruitment 2026

The High Court of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, is recruiting for Librarian, Peon, Mali and Cook-cum-Attendant posts in its establishment. The opportunity is for eligible applicants who meet the qualifications and experience requirements for the relevant Group C or Group D post.

There are 15 vacancies in total, and online applications are scheduled to be accepted from 27 September to 27 October 2026, with the closing time set at 11:59 PM. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Librarian: Applicants must be graduates and hold a postgraduate diploma in Library Science, or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library Science. Three years of experience as a Library Attendant or in a higher post in a related field at a reputed organisation, including a public institution, is required.

Peon: Applicants must have passed Matriculation from a recognised board. No experience is specified for this post.

Mali: Applicants must have passed Matriculation from a recognised board and have three years of experience in gardening or a related area.

Cook-cum-Attendant: Applicants must have passed Matriculation from a recognised board and have three years of cooking experience in a government undertaking or reputed hotel. Preference is given to candidates familiar with the local customs and dialects of the area where they may be deployed.

Age Limit

Age is reckoned as of 1 January 2026. The age range is 18 to 45 years for Unreserved and EWS applicants, and 18 to 50 years for reserved Himachal Pradesh categories where the post is reserved and for Himachal Pradesh government employees. A five-year upper-age relaxation is admissible only to bona fide SC, ST and OBC candidates of Himachal Pradesh and persons with benchmark disabilities of Himachal Pradesh, where the post is reserved for the relevant category.

Salary & Pay Scale

The Librarian post carries Pay Level 09, with a pay range of INR 35,600 to INR 112,800. Peon, Mali and Cook-cum-Attendant posts carry Pay Level 01, with a pay range of INR 18,000 to INR 56,900.

Selection Process

Librarian: Recruitment is through a competitive examination under Schedule IV, Part G of the Recruitment and Promotion Rules, 2015. The final merit list will be based on marks obtained in the written test.

Peon, Mali and Cook-cum-Attendant: Candidates are shortlisted in a 1:3 ratio for evaluation and document verification based on their Matriculation marks. Matriculation marks are calculated out of 85, and up to 15 additional marks are awarded through document evaluation. The final merit list is prepared from the marks for educational qualifications and evaluation.

The 15-mark document evaluation is allocated across the following criteria: belonging to a notified backward area or panchayat (1 mark); a landless family or a family with less than one hectare of land (2 marks); a non-employment certificate confirming that no family member works in government or semi-government service (2.5 marks); disability with more than 40% impairment (1 mark); at least one year of NSS, NCC, Bharat Scout and Guide participation, or a national-level sports medal (1 mark); membership of a BPL family with annual income below INR 40,000 (2.5 marks); widow, divorced, destitute or single woman status (1 mark); single daughter or orphan status (1.5 marks); and up to five years of experience in a government or semi-government organisation (2.5 marks).

Document verification will be conducted under Schedule IV, Part T of the Recruitment and Promotion Rules, 2015. Candidates must upload legible, complete certificates and testimonials with their application; the notification states that new documents will not be accepted at the document verification or evaluation stage.
