Gujarat High Court Librarian Recruitment 2026

The High Court of Gujarat has invited applications for Group-C Librarian and Librarian cum Research Assistant posts in the state judiciary. Vacancy Details

The 30 openings are for Group-C positions in two establishments. Candidates applying for District Judiciary vacancies must select three preferred districts in order of preference. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Applicants for either post must hold a Bachelor of Library and Information Science degree, or an equivalent degree, from a university recognised by the Government. A degree in Law is preferred, but is not stated as compulsory. Candidates must also have a certificate showing basic computer knowledge as prescribed by the State Government and sufficient knowledge of English, Gujarati and Hindi.

Age Limit

Applicants must be at least 21 and no more than 37 years old, with age assessed as of 20 October 2026. The notification information states that the upper age limit must not exceed 45 years after applicable relaxation. No additional relaxation is listed for the unreserved, SC, ST, SEBC or EWS categories in the age-relaxation table.

Women candidates may receive five years of relaxation, and candidates with benchmark disabilities may receive ten years. Ex-servicemen may receive relaxation equal to actual service rendered plus three years. State Government employees may receive five years, or relaxation equal to the number of years served, whichever is less.

Experience

Candidates must have two years of experience working in a well-organised library, gained after obtaining the required degree.

The fee must be paid online through SBI e-Pay using the “Print Application/Pay Fees” option. Usual bank charges apply, and fees already paid will not be refunded.

Salary & Pay Scale

Both posts carry a pay matrix of 25500–81100 per month, with usual allowances as applicable under the rules.

Selection Process

Selection consists of a Main Written Examination in objective-type multiple-choice format, carrying 100 marks, followed by a 40-mark viva-voce (oral interview). The written examination is scheduled for 29 November 2026, while the viva-voce is tentatively scheduled for December 2026 or January 2027. The final merit list will be prepared using candidates’ aggregate marks from both stages. The stated examination syllabus includes Library Science; English and Gujarati; General Studies covering history, geography, science and current affairs; logical reasoning and analytical ability; basic legal knowledge; and basic computer application knowledge.
