GSSSB Staff Nurse Recruitment 2026

The Gujarat Gaun Seva Pasandgi Mandal (GSSSB) has issued Advertisement No. 458/202627 to recruit Staff Nurses, Class-III, for the Employees State Insurance Scheme (ESIS) under the Health and Family Welfare Department. Indian citizens who meet the nursing, age and other eligibility requirements should review the conditions and apply online through the OJAS portal.

There are 131 announced vacancies, and applications are open from 28 September 2026 at 18:00 hrs until 12 October 2026 at 23:59 hrs. Candidates must complete One Time Registration (OTR) on OJAS before submitting an application; no other application method is accepted. Selection is based on a competitive examination, followed by document verification and a medical examination.

GSSSB has notified 131 Staff Nurse, Class-III positions under ESIS. The category totals are listed below. Vacancies may increase or decrease according to departmental requirements, and reservation benefits apply only to candidates who are original residents of Gujarat.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements as of 12 October 2026. They must hold either a B.Sc. Nursing degree or a Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery (GNM). A B.Sc. Nursing degree must be awarded by a university established or incorporated under a Central or State Act in India, or by an institution recognised as a university or declared a deemed university under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. The nursing qualification must be recognised by the Gujarat Nursing Council or the Indian Nursing Council. A GNM diploma must also be from an institution recognised by either of those councils.

Candidates must additionally have basic knowledge of computer applications as prescribed under the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967, and adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both. Anyone appointed through the competitive examination who is not already registered must obtain registration with the Gujarat Nursing Council under the Gujarat Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitor’s Act, 1968, at the time of appointment.

Applicants must be citizens of India or otherwise meet the nationality provisions in Rule 7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.

Age Limit

The standard age range is 18 to 35 years, calculated as of 12 October 2026. The notification lists the following upper-age relaxations: general-category women may receive five years, and reserved-category men may receive five years, giving a stated maximum of 40 years. Reserved-category women may receive 10 years in total, with a stated maximum of 45 years.

For persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD), the stated relaxation is 10 years for general-category men and 15 years for general-category women; the notification lists a maximum age of 45 years for both. Reserved-category PwBD men receive 15 years of relaxation and reserved-category PwBD women receive 20 years, with a stated maximum of 45 years. Ex-servicemen may receive three years of relaxation after accounting for the period of service rendered; the applicable maximum age is as specified for their case.

Application Fee

The examination fee must be paid online through the OJAS portal by 15 October 2026 at 23:59 hrs. The available payment methods include debit card, internet banking, UPI and wallets. The notification states that fees paid by candidates who appear for the examination will not be refunded.

How to Apply

1. Go to the official OJAS portal at ojas.gujarat.gov.in.
2. Complete One Time Registration (OTR) if you do not already have a registration. OTR must be completed before starting the recruitment application.
3. Open the “On line Application” section on the portal and choose “Apply.”
4. Select GSSSB from the available organisations, then choose Advertisement No. 458/202627 for Staff Nurse, Class-III.
5. Select “Apply now” and enter your registration number and date of birth. Continue using the “Apply with OTR” option.
6. Enter your personal and educational details carefully, accept the assurance conditions and save the application.
7. Upload a photograph measuring 5 cm high by 3.6 cm wide and a signature measuring 2.5 cm high by 7.5 cm wide. Both files must be JPG images of no more than 15 KB.
8. Confirm the application and keep a record of the confirmation number.
9. Pay the applicable examination fee online by 15 October 2026 at 23:59 hrs.
10. Download and print the submitted application form for your records.

Salary & Pay Scale

Selected candidates will receive fixed pay of 40800 per month during the first five years. After completing five years, and subject to satisfactory service, they will be eligible for the regular Level-5 pay scale of 29200 to 92300 per month under the 7th Pay Commission. Other benefits are governed by government rules. The appointment is subject to the outcome of SLP No. 14124/2012 and SLP No. 14125/2012 pending before the Hon’ble Supreme Court.

Selection Process

Selection is merit-based and begins with a competitive examination conducted in MCQ format, through OMR or computer-based testing. It consists of two papers, each with 100 questions worth one mark each and a duration of two hours. Paper-I covers Nursing and may be taken in Gujarati or English; Paper-II tests Gujarati and is conducted only in Gujarati. Candidates must score at least 40% in each paper, regardless of category. One-quarter of the marks assigned to a question is deducted for each wrong answer, and the merit list is prepared using the combined marks from both papers.

Paper-I allocates 20 marks each to Fundamental of Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing, Midwifery and Pediatric Nursing, Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing, and Community Health Nursing. Paper-II assigns 30 marks to Language, 40 to Grammar and 30 to Literature. Candidates who progress through the examination stage are also required to undergo document verification and a medical examination.

Eligible candidates should complete OTR and submit their applications through OJAS before 12 October 2026 at 23:59 hrs, allowing enough time to confirm the application and pay any applicable fee by the separate fee deadline.
