GSSSB Horticulture Assistant Recruitment 2026

The Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board (GSSSB) has released the recruitment notification for Horticulture Assistant, Class-3 under the Directorate of Horticulture, Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Cooperation Department, Government of Gujarat. Eligible candidates can apply online through the OJAS portal within the notified dates. If you meet the educational and age requirements, you can submit your application before the closing time to be considered for the written examination.

This recruitment is for 100 vacancies in the Horticulture Assistant (Class-3) cadre. The online application window opens on 2026-08-03 at 2:00 PM and closes on 2026-08-17 at 11:59 PM. Applications must be submitted online only via OJAS (no offline applications are accepted). Selection will be based on a competitive written examination (CBRT/OMR), followed by document verification and preparation of a selection list and waiting list as per merit and category-wise vacancies.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Diploma in Horticulture obtained from a Polytechnic affiliated with any Agriculture/Horticulture University incorporated or established under a Central or State Agriculture/Horticulture University Act in India. In addition, candidates should have basic knowledge of computer applications. If a candidate does not have the computer applications certificate at the time of application, they may still apply, but they must acquire it before appointment. Candidates must also have adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both. The notification also advises candidates to ensure they satisfy all provisions of the applicable recruitment rules, which will be the final authority at the time of selection.

Age Limit

The candidate’s age as on 2026-08-17 must be between 18 and 33 years. Age relaxation is available for specific categories as per the table given in the notification. The maximum age limits mentioned are as follows: General category women (maximum 40 years, relaxation 5 years), Reserved category men (maximum 40 years, relaxation 5 years), Reserved category women (maximum 45 years, relaxation 10 years), General category disabled men (maximum 45 years, relaxation 10 years), General category disabled women (maximum 45 years, relaxation 15 years), Reserved category disabled men (maximum 45 years, relaxation 15 years), Reserved category disabled women (maximum 45 years, relaxation 20 years), and Ex-servicemen (maximum age as applicable, with relaxation equal to service period plus 3 years).

How to Apply

1. Visit the official OJAS website: ojas.gujarat.gov.in.
2. Go to Online Application, click Apply, and select GSSSB.
3. Find Advertisement No. 454/202627 for Horticulture Assistant, Class-3 and click Apply Now.
4. Fill in the Personal Details and Educational Details carefully in the application form.
5. Accept the declaration/assurance and save the form to generate the Application Number.
6. Upload a recent passport-size photograph and signature in the prescribed format and size.
7. Confirm the application using the Application Number and date of birth. After confirmation, edits are not allowed.
8. Pay the required examination fee online after confirmation and take a printout of the confirmed application and fee receipt for future reference.

Salary & Pay Scale

The pay structure mentioned in the notification is as follows. For the first 5 years, candidates will receive a fixed monthly pay of 26000 as per applicable Finance Department resolutions. After completing 5 years, and subject to satisfactory service, candidates will be appointed in the pay scale of 20200 to 52200 (Level-4) as per the 7th Pay Commission, along with other admissible allowances and benefits as per government rules. The notification also states that the arrangement is subject to the outcome of relevant pending Supreme Court SLPs referenced in the notification.

Selection Process

Selection for the Horticulture Assistant (Class-3) posts will be done through a structured process. First, candidates will be evaluated through a single competitive written examination using CBRT/OMR, covering Part-A and Part-B. Next, document verification will be carried out for shortlisted candidates, approximately twice the number of vacancies category-wise, based on the provisional merit list. After verification, the board will prepare the selection list and a waiting list as per merit and category-wise vacancies. Finally, appointment will be made by the concerned government department based on GSSSB’s recommendation, subject to the candidate being found suitable in all respects at the time of appointment.
