Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has released a recruitment notification for the post of Helper on a fixed pay basis. This recruitment is being conducted to fill 2510 Helper vacancies, and eligible candidates can apply online through the official OJAS portal. The GSRTC Helper Recruitment 2026 is a direct recruitment drive for 2510 vacancies. The online application window opens on 2026-09-07 and closes on 2026-10-06 at 23:59 hours. Candidates must apply online via OJAS (ojas.gujarat.gov.in). Selection will be based on a written examination of 100 MCQs, followed by document verification. A merit list is prepared using weightage of the written exam score and apprenticeship certificate (where applicable).

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed at least a one-year course from a Government recognized ITI in any of the following trades: Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Mechanic Diesel, General Mechanic, Fitter, Turner, Electrician, Sheet Metal Worker, Automobile Body Repairer, Welder, Welder cum Fabricator, Machinist, Carpenter, Painter General, and Automobile Paint Repairer.

For preference/weightage, the notification states that apprenticeship training must be completed in the same trade as the ITI qualification. Candidates should have the NCVT certificate and the marksheet for the apprenticeship in the same trade to be considered for the additional weightage during merit preparation.

Important notes: (1) The ITI course must be from a government-recognized institution. (2) Preference marks are only considered when apprenticeship is in the same trade as the ITI qualification.

Age Limit

The minimum age is 18 years as on 2026-10-06 (cut-off date mentioned in the notification). The maximum age limits are different for different categories and genders, as detailed below.

Maximum age limit (as on cut-off date): General (Unreserved) — 35 years for Male and 40 years for Female. Reserved categories (SC/ST/SEBC/EWS) — 40 years for Male and 45 years for Female. For Ex-Servicemen — 45 years for both male and female. For Persons with Disabilities (PwD) — 45 years for both male and female.

The notification also clarifies that the maximum age limit, including all relaxations, shall not exceed 45 years as on the cut-off date.

Age relaxation details: General — no relaxation for Male; 5 years relaxation for Female. Reserved (SC/ST/SEBC/EWS) — 5 years relaxation for Male and 10 years relaxation for Female. General PwD — 10 years relaxation for Male and 15 years relaxation for Female. Reserved PwD — 15 years relaxation for Male and 20 years relaxation for Female. Ex-Servicemen — relaxation as per rules.

Application Fee

The application fee is to be paid online through the OJAS portal during the application process. The fee is non-refundable.

How to Apply

1. Visit the official OJAS website: https://ojas.gujarat.gov.in.
2. Find and click the “Apply Online” option for the GSRTC Helper Recruitment.
3. Select the Helper post and click “Apply Now”.
4. Fill in the Personal Details (fields marked with * are mandatory).
5. Enter your Minimum Educational Qualification details.
6. Enter your Additional Educational Qualification details, if applicable for preference/weightage.
7. Provide your Computer Knowledge details as required in the form.
8. Read the self-declaration and terms, then click “Yes” to accept.
9. Click “Save”. Your Application Number will be generated—save it for future reference.
10. Click “Upload Photograph”. Enter the Application Number and Birth Date, then upload the photograph and signature in the specified formats and sizes.
11. Click “Confirm Application”. Your Confirmation Number will be generated.
12. Proceed to “Online Payment of Fees” and pay the application fee using the online payment gateway.
13. Click “Print Application” and take a printout of the final application form for your records.

Selection Process

The recruitment selection process includes a written examination, merit list preparation, and document verification. First, candidates will appear for a 100 MCQ objective written test, which will be conducted using OMR or CBRT as decided by GSRTC. Next, a merit list is prepared using 90% weightage of the written exam score and 10% weightage of the apprenticeship certificate (if applicable). Finally, shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification in the ratio of 1:1.5 (1.5 times the number of vacancies). After verification, the final merit list and a waiting list are prepared.

For the 10% weightage, candidates must possess the apprenticeship certificate for the same ITI trade at the time of document verification. If the apprenticeship is in a different trade, the weightage will not be given.

Eligible candidates should complete the online application and payment within the notified timeline and submit the form before 2026-10-06 (23:59 hours) to avoid last-minute issues.
