DTU AI Engineer Recruitment 2026

Delhi Technological University (DTU) is seeking candidates for two AI Engineer positions under a research project sponsored by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Applicants with the specified postgraduate or doctoral qualification and relevant expertise in areas such as AI, machine learning, natural language processing or cybersecurity can apply.

The recruitment is for two contractual, project-based posts, with applications accepted by email from September 28 to October 8, 2026. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their eligibility and relevant experience, invited to an interview if selected for the next stage, and ranked for final selection on interview performance. The appointment is for 12 months or until the project ends, whichever occurs first.

DTU has announced two openings for the AI Engineer post. Both appointments are contractual and connected to the MeitY-sponsored project, “Development of AI-Based Solution for Analysing, Benchmarking and Quality Monitoring of the Cybersecurity Audit Reports and Performance Monitoring of Auditing Organizations.” The Chief Investigator may decide whether to fill the advertised position or positions.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Electronics and Communications, Mathematics and Computing, or a closely related discipline. Alternatively, candidates may apply with an M.E. or M.Tech in one of those disciplines or a closely related subject, provided they have at least 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA.

Additional experience and publication records are desirable rather than mandatory. Ph.D. candidates may receive preference if they have one year of post-Ph.D. experience and two research papers published in SCI/SCIE-indexed journals. For M.E./M.Tech candidates, the stated desirable profile is three years of relevant post-qualification experience and three papers in SCI/SCIE-indexed journals. These criteria may be considered during shortlisting. Practical experience with deep learning, machine learning, NLP, text summarisation, large language models, reinforcement learning, Python programming, cybersecurity or information security is also preferred.

Age Limit

The maximum age for the AI Engineer post is 40 years. Any applicable age relaxation will be governed by the relevant Government of India, DTU or funding-agency rules.

Salary & Pay Scale

The selected AI Engineer will receive a consolidated remuneration of INR 125000 per month, inclusive of all components. The engagement is for 12 months or until the project ends, whichever comes first. The role is based at DTU, Shahbad Daulatpur, Main Bawana Road, Delhi.

Selection Process

DTU will first assess applications and shortlist candidates according to eligibility and relevant experience. Shortlisted applicants will be called for an interview by the Selection Committee and notified by email. The final merit list will be based on interview performance.
