CSL Graduate & Technician Apprentice Recruitment 2026

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has released a notification for the engagement of eligible candidates as Graduate Apprentice and Technician (Diploma) Apprentice trainees. The recruitment is for Kerala-domicile candidates and applications must be submitted online through the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal. If you have passed the required qualifying examination within the specified years, you can apply within the announced dates.

CSL will fill a total of 139 apprenticeship training seats—78 for Graduate Apprentices and 61 for Technician (Diploma) Apprentices. The online application window begins on 2026-08-12 and closes on 2026-09-01. Selection will be carried out through shortlisting based on the percentage of marks in the qualifying examination for the respective discipline, followed by certificate verification and provisional selection subject to medical fitness.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Category-I: Graduate Apprentices require a Degree in Engineering or Technology from a statutory university or an institution empowered by an Act of Parliament in the relevant discipline. Candidates may also be eligible if they have a graduate examination from professional bodies recognized by the State/Central Government as equivalent. If the qualifying result is provided in CGPA/OGPA/CPI instead of percentage, the conversion criteria defined by the university/institute will apply; otherwise, the aggregate grade points should be multiplied by 10 to arrive at the percentage.

Category-II: Technician (Diploma) Apprentices require a Diploma in Engineering or Technology from a State Council/Board of Technical Education, a university, or an institution recognized by the State/Central Government for disciplines listed under Sl. No. 1–6. For Sl. No. 7 (Commercial Practice), the required qualification is a Diploma in Commercial Practice from a State/Central Government recognized institution. If a candidate has an equivalent qualification, they must submit an Equivalency Certificate issued by the competent authority; without this certificate, candidature will not be considered.

Age Limit

Candidates must be above 18 years of age as on 2026-09-01. The notification does not mention any additional age relaxation beyond this requirement.

In addition to age and education, candidates must meet the domicile and training eligibility conditions. Only candidates who are domiciled in Kerala and who passed the qualifying examination during 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible. Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act, 1973 in any Government, Public Sector, or Private Organisation are not eligible to apply. Minimum physical standards as per Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 and its amendments will apply.

How to Apply

1. Visit the NATS portal at https://nats.education.gov.in.
2. If you are already registered on the old portal (portal.mhrdnats.gov.in), activate your account on the new portal using the “forgot password” option.
3. Log in to your NATS account and complete the application form carefully, ensuring all details are correct.
4. In the portal, search for “COCHIN SHIPYARD LIMITED” under “Apply against advertised vacancies”.
5. Click Apply for the relevant apprenticeship advertisement and verify that the application status shows “Applied”.
6. If you have no prior registration, click “Student” and then “Student Register” on the NATS portal to complete registration and obtain a unique Enrolment Number.
7. After registration, log in again, search for “COCHIN SHIPYARD LIMITED” under “Apply against advertised vacancies”, and submit the application by clicking Apply.

Selection Process

Selection will be conducted in stages. First, candidates will be shortlisted based on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination for the respective discipline. In case of a tie, seniority in the year of passing will be considered; if the tie still remains, the candidate senior in age (based on date of birth) will be given precedence. Next, shortlisted candidates must complete certificate verification by producing original documents for age, qualification, percentage of marks, caste, and disability (if applicable), along with self-attested copies. Failure to produce original certificates will lead to rejection. Finally, candidates who successfully complete verification will be provisionally selected against the notified training seats in order of merit/reservation, subject to medical fitness.
