CLAT 2027 Common Law Admission Test

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has released the CLAT 2027 notification following decisions taken at its Executive Committee and Governing Body meetings held on 18 July 2026. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027 will be conducted on Sunday, 6 December 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes at National Law Universities can apply online through the official CLAT 2027 login portal.

CLAT 2027 is a national-level admission test for UG (5-year integrated LL.B.) and PG (1-year LL.M.) programmes commencing in the Academic Year 2027–2028 at 26 National Law Universities across India. The online application window will open on 3 August 2026 at 10:00 AM and will remain open until 31 October 2026. Applications are submitted online, and the exam will be held in offline (pen-and-paper) mode. The detailed admission process, including eligibility verification and other instructions, is expected to be notified by the Consortium in due course.

Vacancy Details

The notification is for an admission test (CLAT 2027) rather than a direct recruitment drive, and it does not specify a post-wise vacancy count. CLAT 2027 is used for admission to UG (5-year integrated LL.B.) and PG (1-year LL.M.) programmes for the Academic Year 2027–2028 across 26 National Law Universities in India.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

For CLAT UG: Candidates who have passed or are appearing in their Class 12 (10+2) or an equivalent examination are eligible to apply.

For CLAT PG: Candidates who have completed or are in the final year of an LL.B. degree are eligible to apply.

The Consortium is expected to release the detailed eligibility conditions separately. Candidates are advised to refer to the official CLAT 2027 notification for exact requirements, including any minimum qualifying marks and category-wise relaxations.

Age Limit

As per the pattern followed in past CLAT cycles, there is generally no upper age limit prescribed for appearing in either CLAT UG or CLAT PG. Candidates should still check the final official notification for any specific conditions that may apply for CLAT 2027.

Application Fee

The exact application fee for CLAT 2027 is yet to be officially notified by the Consortium. The figures above are expected estimates based on fee structures followed in recent years. The application fee is generally non-refundable and non-adjustable and must be paid online.

How to Apply

1. Open the official CLAT 2027 portal on the Consortium of NLUs website when the application window starts.
2. Click the login/registration link that becomes active from 3 August 2026 at 10:00 AM.
3. Register using your mobile number and email ID, then verify using the OTP received.
4. Fill in the application form with personal, academic, and communication details.
5. Upload the required scanned documents and photograph as specified in the official notification.
6. Pay the applicable application fee online.
7. Review all details and submit the application before the last date, i.e., 31 October 2026.

If you appeared for CLAT 2026 and need access to earlier login details, you must use the CLAT 2026 portal separately, as the CLAT 2027 registration link is different.

Salary & Pay Scale

This notification does not include any salary or pay scale because CLAT 2027 is an admission test. Candidates should treat this as an entrance examination for law programmes rather than an employment recruitment.

Selection Process

CLAT 2027 selection is based on the candidate’s performance in the Common Law Admission Test conducted by the Consortium of NLUs. The exam will be conducted in offline (pen-and-paper) mode and will include 120 multiple-choice questions. Each question carries 1 mark, and there is negative marking of 0.25 mark for every wrong answer. The Consortium is expected to notify the complete admission process and related steps in due course.
