CERT-In Scientist-B Recruitment 2026 (133 Vacancies) via GATE

CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has released the official recruitment notification for Scientist-B posts for the year 2026. The recruitment is for 133 vacancies and is open to candidates who have a valid GATE score (2024/2025/2026) in the relevant paper code. Eligible candidates can apply online through the CERT-In website within the notified dates.

This recruitment is conducted without a separate written exam by CERT-In. Selection is based on GATE score shortlisting, followed by document verification and a Personal Interaction/Interview. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess the essential educational qualification as applicable to the discipline applied for. As per the notification, applicants should have either a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology (minimum four-year course), or a Master’s Degree in a relevant Science discipline, or an MCA. The essential qualification must be completed in subjects relevant to the corresponding GATE paper code for the discipline (CS, DA, or EC), as detailed in the official notification.

Age Limit

Age eligibility is calculated as on the cut-off date of 2026-08-17. The upper age limits are as follows: UR/EWS candidates can apply up to 30 years; SC/ST candidates up to 35 years; and OBC (NCL) candidates up to 33 years. For PwBD categories, the upper age limits are higher: PwBD (UR) up to 40 years, PwBD (SC/ST) up to 45 years, and PwBD (OBC-NCL) up to 43 years. Age relaxation is also applicable for in-service candidates and Ex-Servicemen as per government norms.

Salary & Pay Scale

The selected candidates will be appointed at Pay Matrix Level-10 under the 7th Central Pay Commission. The initial basic pay mentioned in the notification is 56100 per month. The post carries All India liability, and the selected candidate may be posted anywhere in India or outside India in the interest of the organisation.

Selection Process

Selection for the Scientist-B posts is carried out in stages. First, candidates are shortlisted based on their valid GATE score (2024/2025/2026) in the relevant paper code corresponding to the applied discipline. The notification indicates a shortlisting ratio of 1:5 discipline-wise and category-wise. Next, shortlisted candidates undergo document verification. Finally, they are called for a Personal Interaction/Interview. The final merit list is prepared using 60% weightage for the GATE score and 40% weightage for marks obtained in the Personal Interaction/Interview. CERT-In does not conduct a separate written exam for this recruitment.
