Selection Process
The merit score is calculated out of 100: the Computer Based Test contributes up to 75 marks, and eligible work experience contributes up to 25 marks. The CBT percentage is multiplied by 0.75 to calculate its contribution; for example, a 50% score gives 37.5 marks. Experience weightage is 5 marks for each year of satisfactory contractual service on an equivalent post in a government or non-private laboratory in Bihar, up to 25 marks. Partial years are calculated proportionately using days worked × 5 ÷ 365. Experience marks are awarded only to candidates who qualify the written examination. Candidates are then called for document verification based on the category-wise merit list.
The CBT is an objective, 100-question examination worth 400 raw marks, with a duration of 2 hours and questions in Hindi and English. Each correct answer earns 4 marks and each incorrect answer incurs a 1-mark deduction. Normalisation will apply if the examination takes place in multiple shifts. The syllabus is to be published separately on the BTSC website and will be based on Health Department requirements.
| Category | Minimum qualifying score |
|---|---|
| General | 40% |
| Backward Class (BC) | 36.5% |
| Extremely Backward Class (EBC) | 34% |
| SC, ST, women and persons with disabilities | 32% |
| Candidates from outside Bihar, including women and persons with disabilities | 40% |
Eligible candidates should complete the online application and fee payment by 24 October 2026. Review the official notification and upload the required documents before submitting the form.
