BSIP Scientist ‘B’ Recruitment 2026

The Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP) has released the BSIP Scientist ‘B’ Recruitment 2026 under Advertisement No. BSIP/SCI-B/01/2026 dated 2026-08-07. Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Master’s degree with first division in the relevant discipline along with research experience, or alternatively a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline. As per the essential requirement, an M.Sc. (or recognized equivalent) with first division in Biosciences/Geology/Physics/Chemistry or an allied Earth science discipline is required, along with 3 years of research experience in the relevant discipline. Candidates with a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline are also eligible.

The notification also lists desirable experience areas for candidates, including research in palaeontology (invertebrate/vertebrate), palaeobotany, palaeogeography, micropalaeontology, palaeoceanography, ancient DNA/metagenomics, planetary geosciences/astrobiology, geoarchaeology, archaeobotany, palaeoecology/palaeoclimatology, palynology, geochemistry, dendrochronology, and AI and RS-GIS applications in palaeosciences/Earth sciences. Age Limit

Relaxation is provided as follows: SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation; OBC candidates get 3 years relaxation; PH candidates are eligible for relaxation as per Government of India rules; and in-service candidates in DST-funded institutions can get relaxation up to 5 years.

Salary & Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be placed at Pay Level 10 as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (Level – 10 (7th CPC)). The notification does not provide the exact pay range in the provided text.

Selection Process

The selection process for BSIP Scientist ‘B’ Recruitment 2026 includes screening of applications followed by a personal interview. Candidates recommended by the Screening Committee, after approval of the Competent Authority, will be called for a personal interview.
