Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed at least the 4th standard. The notification also requires candidates to be able to read, write, and speak both Marathi and Hindi. In addition, candidates should have adequate knowledge of and experience in cooking and must be able to prepare all kinds of vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian food.

Preference will be given to candidates who hold a certificate in a cooking course from a recognized institution, or candidates with 2 or more years of experience as a chef/cook in a five-star/three-star hotel or a recognized institution.

Age Limit

Age eligibility is considered as on the date of publication of the advertisement. For the General category, the candidate’s age must be not less than 18 years and not more than 38 years. For Backward Class candidates, the maximum age limit is 43 years.

For Court/Government employees, there is no age limit mentioned; however, the application must be routed through their respective office.

  2. Fill in the application form carefully, ensuring the educational qualification details are entered in the prescribed order (4th, 7th, S.S.C., H.S.C., Graduation, etc.). Paste a recent passport-size colour photograph in the space provided.
  3. Attach self-attested photocopies of required certificates, such as mark sheets, proof of date of birth, caste certificate (if applicable), disability certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate, cooking experience certificate, and other relevant documents as specified in the notification.
  4. Attach the required original documents as mentioned in the notification, including two character certificates from respectable persons (as per Annexure ‘B’), a small family declaration, a No Objection Certificate for government employees (if applicable), a list of dishes the candidate can prepare, a self-addressed envelope with a 5 INR postage stamp affixed, and a passport-size photograph.
  5. Write “Application for the post of Cook” in bold letters on the envelope before sending it.
  6. Send the completed application along with all enclosures only through Speed Post so that it reaches the office on or before 10th September 2026 by 5:00 PM. Use the address: Manager (Administration), Bombay High Court, Bench Aurangabad, Jalna Road, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar – 431009.
  7. If more than one application is submitted by a candidate, only the last submitted application will be considered.

Selection Process

Selection will be based on shortlisting followed by a multi-stage assessment conducted by the Selection Committee of the Bombay High Court, Bench Aurangabad. The process includes shortlisting of candidates based on the number of applications received, educational qualifications, merit, and cooking experience. After shortlisting, candidates must appear for the practical cooking test, which carries 30 marks with a minimum qualifying mark of 15; candidates who do not secure the minimum qualifying marks in the practical cooking test will not be eligible for the remaining stages. The physical efficiency test carries 10 marks, and the oral interview carries 10 marks, making the total marks 50 across all three stages.

Shortlisted candidates called for the practical test/interview must bring original documents for verification along with a valid original photo ID (Aadhaar Card/PAN Card/Driving Licence/Voter ID) and the admission certificate.
