Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Applicants must hold a B.V.Sc. or B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree from a university recognised by the Veterinary Council of India and must have permanent registration with the Bihar Veterinary Council. The degree-related certificates, mark sheets and registration certificate must have been issued on or before 23 October 2026. Applicants must be citizens of India.
Age Limit
The minimum age is 21 years, calculated as of 1 August 2026. The maximum age is 37 years for unreserved men, 40 years for unreserved women and BC/EBC applicants of either sex, and 42 years for SC/ST applicants of either sex. The date of birth recorded in the Matriculation or equivalent certificate will be used for age verification.
Eligible persons with disabilities may receive 10 years of age relaxation. Regular Bihar Government employees with three years of continuous service may receive five years. For qualifying contractual work on the same post with the Bihar Government or a non-private institution in Bihar—including Government of India bodies, undertakings, corporations, authorities, autonomous bodies, and contractual veterinarians on DFAR Department projects—the relaxation equals the period worked, up to eight years. Ex-servicemen may receive three years plus their period of military service, provided their actual age does not exceed 57 years. Candidates who were within the age limit at any point between 1 August 2021 and 1 August 2026 are also eligible because the previous recruitment used 1 August 2021 as its age reference date. Only one of these relaxations may be used; the relaxation cut-off is 1 August 2026.
Application Fee
The fee is the same for every category under GAD Resolution No. 15568 dated 21 August 2025. Payment must be made online, and any bank charges are payable by the candidate.
| Applicant category | Fee |
|---|---|
| All candidates | 100 |
Accepted payment methods are debit card, credit card, internet banking and UPI. Candidates should retain the payment receipt.

Salary & Pay Scale
The Touring Veterinary Officer and equivalent posts are placed at Pay Matrix Level 9. The pay scale is 53100 to 167800, with admissible allowances in addition to the scale.
Selection Process
BTSC will prepare the merit list using the computer-based test score and, for eligible candidates with qualifying contractual service, experience weightage. The CBT contributes up to 75 marks and experience contributes up to 25 marks. CBT percentage is multiplied by 0.75 to calculate its contribution; for example, a score of 60% converts to 45 marks out of 75. Qualifying contractual service on the same post in the Bihar Government or a non-private institution within Bihar receives five marks per year, proportionately for part of a year, up to 25 marks. Experience is counted through 24 September 2026 and is considered only for candidates who qualify the CBT.
The selection sequence is application, CBT, addition of eligible experience marks, category-wise merit list, document verification and final selection. The CBT is an objective, 100-question examination carrying 100 marks, with a duration of two hours and papers in Hindi and English. Each correct answer earns one mark and each wrong answer incurs a 0.25-mark deduction. The minimum qualifying score is 30%; normalization applies if the examination is held in multiple shifts. The syllabus will be based on the requisitioning department's requirements and will be published separately on the BTSC website.
Candidates called for document verification must bring original certificates and printouts downloaded from BTSC of the documents uploaded with the application. Failure to attend on the scheduled date may result in cancellation of candidature. A fake or incorrect document can lead to cancellation and possible legal action.
Eligible candidates should complete the online form, verify their details and pay the fee well before the 23 October 2026 deadline. Keep the submitted application and payment receipt for reference during the recruitment process.
