BBMB Hindi Translator Recruitment 2026

The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has released the BBMB Hindi Translator Recruitment 2026 notification for a temporary Hindi Translator position. The recruitment is conducted under the Centralized Staff Selection Committee, BBMB, and applications are accepted online through the BBMB recruitment portal. Eligible candidates who meet the educational qualification, age criteria, and other requirements should apply within the stated timeline.

BBMB is filling a total of 9 vacancies for the post of Hindi Translator (Temporary). The online application process begins on 2026-08-31 at 11:00 AM and the last date to submit the application form is 2026-09-21 at 11:59 PM. Candidates must also complete fee payment by 2026-09-23 at 11:59 PM. Selection will be based on a written test using an OMR-based MCQ format, followed by document verification. Vacancy Details

Horizontal Reservation (PwD): Out of the total 9 posts, 1 seat is reserved for Persons with Disability (PwD). Candidates belonging to PwD Category (B) (Deaf and Hard of Hearing) and PwD Category (C) (Locomotor Disability including Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victims and Muscular Dystrophy) will be considered on an equal-priority basis. Selection among these PwD categories will be made strictly on the basis of merit.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for the Hindi Translator post must possess one of the following educational qualifications:

• M.A. in English and Honours in Hindi, or
• M.A. in Hindi and Honours in English, or
• Law Graduate and Hindi Honours, or
• M.A. in Hindi and Honours in Hindi, or
• M.A. in any subject and M.A. in Hindi, or
• Honours in Hindi, or
• M.A. in Hindi, or
• B.A./B.Sc. and Honours in Hindi.

In addition, candidates must have at least 3 years of experience working as a Translator in any Government, semi-Government organisation, or any reputed daily newspaper.

The notification further states that candidates with knowledge of proof reading and an inclination for literary work will be given preference. Candidates are required to upload the requisite educational and experience certificates along with the application form.

Age Limit

Candidates must meet the age requirement as on 2026-07-01. The minimum age is 18 years. The maximum age for General category candidates is 37 years.

Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxable for candidates of reserved categories as per Central Government instructions. The notification provides the following relaxation:

• Scheduled Tribe (ST): 5 years
• OBC: up to 3 years
• Candidates already employed in Central/State Government or their Undertakings/Autonomous Bodies/Boards/Corporations: up to 5 years

Age Relaxation for PwD Candidates: PwD candidates are eligible for additional relaxation as follows:

• UR/EWS: 10 years
• ST: 10 + 5 years
• OBC: 10 + 3 years

This PwD relaxation applies to persons with hearing impairment and locomotor disability or cerebral palsy, subject to a minimum of 40% disability. The notification also mentions that the maximum age on the crucial date should not exceed 56 years.

Application Fee

The application fee is non-refundable and must be paid online while submitting the application. Fee concession, wherever applicable, is available only to applicants who possess the reservation certificate issued by the competent authority.

2. Register on the portal and note down your Login ID and Password for future reference.
3. Fill in all columns of the online application form. Enter “N/A” wherever a particular field is not applicable.

5. Pay the prescribed non-refundable application fee online.
6. Review all entries carefully before final submission.
7. Submit the application well before the deadline to avoid issues due to heavy traffic near the closing time. BBMB will not be responsible for failed submissions caused by server load near the last date.
8. Departmental/serving Government employees must also send a copy of the online application form along with qualification and experience certificates through proper channel to the Member Secretary, Centralized Staff Selection Committee, BBMB, Plot No. 6B, Madhya Marg, Sector-19B, Chandigarh-160019. The envelope must clearly mention the Advertisement Number, post name, and category.

The notification states that only one application per post can be submitted by an applicant, whether applying under UR or any reserved category.

Salary & Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be appointed on a regular basis with a probation period of 3 years. The initial pay will be as per Punjab C.S.R./as notified by BBMB, or DC Rate as applicable, whichever is higher.

Selection Process

Selection for the Hindi Translator post will be carried out through a written test followed by document verification. The written test will be an OMR-based multiple choice question (MCQ) paper. The test carries 100 marks and will be conducted for 90 minutes. Each question is worth 1 mark, and there is no negative marking. The syllabus/topics mentioned in the notification include English Grammar, Hindi Grammar, General Awareness, Computer Proficiency, Translation (Hindi to English and English to Hindi), and Word Meaning (English to Hindi and Hindi to English). Qualifying marks are category-wise: UR/EWS candidates must score at least 40%, while ST/OBC candidates must score at least 35%.
