APSC Veterinary Officer Recruitment 2026 (137 Vacancies)

The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has released the official notification for the APSC Veterinary Officer Recruitment 2026 on 2026-08-03. This recruitment is for Veterinary Officer/Block Veterinary Officer (VO/BVO) posts in the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, Government of Assam. Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have at least a Degree in Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science from any recognized University/Institution. During the application process, candidates are required to upload relevant mark sheets/grade sheets for each semester/year showing the subjects, along with the final pass certificate.

Age Limit

The age limit is considered as on 2026-01-01 and varies by category. The category-wise age criteria are as follows: General (UR) candidates must be between 21 to 38 years. SC/ST candidates can apply up to 43 years (5 years relaxation). OBC/MOBC candidates can apply up to 41 years (3 years relaxation). Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) candidates are eligible for 10 years relaxation irrespective of category. Ex-Servicemen (UR) candidates can apply up to 50 years. Ex-Servicemen (OBC/MOBC) candidates can apply up to 53 years (additional 3 years relaxation). Ex-Servicemen (SC/ST) candidates can apply up to 55 years (additional 5 years relaxation).

Domicile requirement: Candidates must be Indian citizens as defined in Article 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India and must be permanent residents of Assam. Proof of domicile must be uploaded in the form of either a valid Permanent Resident Certificate issued in Assam for educational purposes, or a valid Employment Exchange Registration Certificate. Either document is treated as valid proof of residency.

Application Fee

Under the Digital India initiative, APSC’s online recruitment portal is operated with support from CSC-SPV, which charges a processing fee of 47.20 from each candidate as mentioned in the notification.

How to Apply

1. Visit the official APSC recruitment website: Go to https://apscrecruitment.in.
2. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR): If you have not registered earlier, click on the “Register Here” link and complete the OTR by providing the required basic details.
3. Log in: After registration, log in using your registered email/mobile number and password.
4. Fill the application form: Provide the required details as asked in the form. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.
5. Upload documents (PDF): Upload required documents/certificates such as Date of Birth and educational qualification details, and caste/category documents, in PDF format. Ensure that the file size does not exceed 4 MB, the document is legible, and scanning is done at 200 dpi in greyscale (recommended).
6. Upload photograph and signature: Upload a recent photograph (50 KB to 200 KB; not older than 3 months) and a signature (50 KB to 200 KB).
7. Preview and verify: Use the Preview option to confirm that all uploaded documents are clear and readable.
8. Pay the application fee: After completing the form, pay the prescribed fee/charges as applicable to your category.
9. Final submission and confirmation: After previewing, proceed to pay or cancel to correct if needed. Once submitted successfully, an auto-generated confirmation email/SMS will be sent to your registered email ID/mobile number.

Important: No editing of the application is allowed after final submission, so candidates should verify all details and uploads carefully before submitting.

Salary & Pay Scale

Selected candidates will receive the above pay scale along with applicable allowances and benefits as per Assam State Government rules. The notification also mentions allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Medical Allowance, and other admissible benefits.

Selection Process

The detailed selection procedure will be notified later, and the Commission may issue corrigendum/addendum if required. The Commission will decide the selection provision for each post/service based on factors such as cadre/grade, the number of applications received, and the status of the advertised posts. The selection process may include a screening/written examination and an interview/viva-voce. The Commission may also conduct examinations zone-wise depending on the number of candidates against the districts.

For examination arrangements, the notification provides zone-wise grouping of districts. The zones listed are Silchar (Hailakandi, Sribhumi & Cachar), Jorhat (Golaghat, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Majuli, Charaideo, Sivasagar & Tinsukia), Nagaon (DimaHasao, Hojai, Nagaon, Morigaon, KarbiAnglong & West KarbiAnglong), Tezpur (Biswanath, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur & Udalguri), Kokrajhar (Bongaigaon, Chirang, Dhubri, Goalpara, Kokrajhar & South Salmara), and Guwahati (Barpeta, Baksa, Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), Nalbari, Darrang, Bajali & Tamulpur). The Commission has discretion to reduce or increase the number of zones depending on candidate numbers.
