AHVD Assam Veterinary Field Assistant Recruitment 2026

The Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Assam (AHVD) has released the AHVD Recruitment 2026 notification for Veterinary Field Assistant (VFA) and allied cadre posts. Horizontal Reservation

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed the full-time HSSLC (Class 12) examination in the Science stream with Biology as one of the subjects from a recognized Board/Council/University.

Age Limit

Candidates must satisfy the age criteria as on 2026-01-01, as per Government Office Memorandum No. ABP.6/2016/51 dated 2020-09-02. The minimum age is 18 years, and the maximum age for General category candidates is 40 years.

Age Relaxation: The upper age limit is relaxable for reserved category candidates as follows: SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation, OBC/MOBC candidates get 3 years relaxation, PwBD candidates get 10 years relaxation, and Ex-Servicemen candidates get 2 years relaxation.

Candidates applying under SC/ST/OBC/MOBC reservation must submit a caste certificate issued by a competent authority of the Government of Assam. The certificate should clearly mention the caste, the Act/order under which it is recognized, and the candidate’s village/town of ordinary residence.

In addition to education and age, the notification requires that applicants be Indian citizens as defined under Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India. Applicants must also be permanent residents of Assam and must provide a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued in Assam for educational purposes.

Selection Process

Selection for the entry-level cadre of Veterinary Field Assistant (or its equivalent post) will be done through an OMR-based written test. The written test will be conducted for a duration of 120 minutes and will carry 100 marks based on 100 questions. The questions are of Class 12 (HSSLC Science) standard.

The test will include the following subjects and marks distribution: Biology (40 marks), Chemistry (20 marks), Physics (20 marks), and General Awareness (20 marks). The exam will be in Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format with 100 questions to be answered within 120 minutes.

PwBD eligibility for consideration: Candidates applying under the PwBD category must have a Benchmark Disability of 40% or more and must produce the necessary certificate issued by a competent authority.
