Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must satisfy the eligibility conditions regarding domicile, age and educational qualification. All eligibility requirements are to be considered as on 16 September 2026.

Educational Qualification

Graduate/Diploma Apprentices: Candidates must have completed a full-time (regular) four-year degree or a three-year (regular) diploma in engineering in the relevant stream. The qualification should be recognized by AICTE and the Government of India (GOI).

Trade (ITI) Apprentices: Candidates must possess an ITI/NCVT certificate in the relevant trade from an institution recognized by AICTE and GOI.

Year of passing: Candidates must have passed their degree/diploma/ITI in 2024 or after 2024.

Age Limit

The recruitment specifies a minimum age of 18 years and a maximum age of 26 years for general candidates, as on 16.09.2026. For SC/ST/OBC/PwBD categories, age relaxation is applicable as per Government of India guidelines.

Other conditions (eligibility exclusions): Candidates are not eligible if they have already completed apprenticeship, terminated it midway, or are currently pursuing apprenticeship elsewhere (including at AAI) at the same qualification level. Candidates are also not eligible if they have apprenticeship training/job experience of 1 year or more after attaining the essential qualification.

Salary & Pay Scale

Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend as per the Apprentices Act. The stipend is shared between AAI and the Government through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). The stipend details are given below.

Selection Process

The selection process for AAI NR Apprentice Recruitment 2026 includes multiple stages. First, candidates will be considered for provisional selection based on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination. In case of equal percentage, the date of birth (and thereafter the date of passing) will determine seniority. CGPA will be converted to percentage as per the norms of the concerned Board/University.

After provisional selection, eligible candidates will be called for document verification at the establishment office through registered email IDs only. Shortlisted candidates will then be called for interview and verification of certificates through their registered email IDs. Final selection will be based on the interview/document verification process and submission of a Medical Fitness Certificate issued by a Government Medical Officer or a Medical Officer of a Government Undertaking at the time of joining. Selected candidates will be posted preferably at locations in the Northern Region based on their registration location in the portal, and an apprentice engagement letter will be issued after document verification and medical fitness clearance.
